Was the first recorded song by Kevin Spacey a "Mercer" song?
(on the "Midnight in the garden . . ." soundtrack?).

What song is it?

Mercer was from Savannah, the setting of the film, so it wouldn't surprise me.

My friend john arrived today to take over house sitting duties. He said my big black cat was all over him, so that was great news. (I'm assuming he wasn't talking about just the fur!)

We went back to the same place we had lunch and had another extraordinary meal. Now I must crash---early day tomorrow, driving back to LA. The guys will drop me off at Amoeba while they return gear. Oh joy!

Spacey sang Mercer & Arlen's "That Old Black Magic". I wondered it it was Spacey's first recorded song.

Yep.  The Mercer house is one of the "stars" of the movie.

It's an oddity that Barry Manilow's hit "I Write the Songs" was not written by him.

I do not feel stuffed because I haven't eaten since lunch.

UGLY BETTY had a pretty good outing tonight, but I found parts of it repetitive. How many times are Alexis and Daniel going to bicker over this leadership position? This is the second or third time THIS SEASON that Betty has expressed discontent with Henry's idea of fun only to realize later that she did much prefer it.

How can I complain, however, when the episode gave us generous glances at Henry's upper torso again? Magnificent!

What I can't fathom is how he can have such a small waist.  He's skinny, but there's muscle there.  My thoughts were all over the place wondering what the producers thought they were doing to make his shoulders seem so broad and his waist so tiny.  It didn't seem "real", somehow.

GREY'S ANATOMY had really exciting cases this week but some very depressing personal stories.

And I do not find the actress they're pairing Patrick Dempsey with at all appealing.

I thought it an exceptionally powerful episode.  As for the actress attratcing Dempsey's attention, I find her far more appealing than Ellen Pompeo.  More power to her.

Had a good visit with my doctor today.  My cholesterol is WAYYYY down....my blood sugar is wayyyy down...my PSA was .075 (a VERY good thing, especially with the history of prostate cancer on my father's side of the family).

All that and I still have a full head of hair that is in dire need of cutting!

It's not raining.  Welcome to Los Angeles, home of the most inept weather forecasters in the world.
