Well if Cinderella was visiting Elmore's relatives last night (i.e., the Macbeths), tonight she was over in Rod Serling territory.  A completely weird night--the fog machine went off again, this time during the overture, and belched so much mist out you literally could not see a thing for the first several minutes of Act I.  Don't know if that threw off the actors, but there were a lot of missed lines tonight--pages full of them.  And our stage manager, who calls the sound cues (including the pre-records), is a *very* literal person.  If she does not get her exact dialogue cue, she simply does not call the sound cue.  Which of course meant for some awkward silences.  :)

Bollywood film # 1 is done...now for # two...DUSHMUN (1971) starring Rajesh Khanna, Mumtaz, and the lovely Meena Kumari (shortly before she passed away from a few too many nips at that bottle, I am sad to say).

Closing in on 300. It would be a lot more if I hadn't dropped off the planet, but oh well.

OH!!!!!

While waiting for the F Train downtown at the 57th Street Station - and it was quite a wait (four uptown trains came and went in the interim), there was a gentleman who got off one of the uptown trains.  Singing.  He was actually singing kind of loudly, but it wasn't like he was yelling.  He was just singing with a lot of passion and happiness...

My Asian Man
My Asian Man
Oh, how I love my Asian Man
He treats me right
And cooks my ham
Oh, how I love my Asian Man

:)

I wasn't sure if he was serenading me - or anyone else on the platform - or if he was just singing to sing.  He actually went through about 12 verses before he finally boarded another uptown train.  In any case, he brought a smile to my face - and to everyone else's face on the platform who were waiting for the downtown train.

And another moment that made me "smile" today...

-Oh, look, the banners on that building... What do they say?
Looks like "Carnegie Hall"
-Really? I didn't think it was that big a building.
Well, maybe the banners are just like an ad for Carnegie Hall.
-Probably.  What does it say in the guidebook?
Where are we?
-57th Street and 7th Avenue.
Well, it says that that's where Carnegie Hall is.
-I guess that must be it then.
Can we go to Starbucks now?

My big brother would make up verses now & then for a song about himself...the Happy Homosexual. I have a verse in it too. We were at junior college together for a while & ran in the same crowds. One day I walked up whilst he was singing his song & he shouted, "It's me little sister!"

Then he sang:

She's a happy heterosexual!
She loves her brother who is gay!
Cos when he's a happy homosexual,
Everyone knows there's a possible lay!

If all (well most) of DR Jose's  posts since he arrived in New York as a resident, were to be published - what a wonderful love story between a man and a city it would be.

Thank you Jose for sharing so much of your world with us all at HHW.

It's raining ice
Hallelujah
It's raining ice
Not nice

Feel the hail that's pounding at your head
Pick up a drink and stay in bed

Is the sentiment of "My Asian Man" similar in un-PC-ness to the concept of "My very own Jew?"
