I hope you have plenty of food, that you are warm and comfy, and that you don't lose power.

I, too, did not like Mr. Travolta in HAIRSPRAY. In fact, apart from James Marsden and Queen Latifah, I thought none of the adult actors got the most out of their characters. I thought the younger actors were all outstanding.

If I had some time over the rest of this month (doubtful), I'd love to revisit John Waters' original movie. I know elements in the plot changed from screen to stage to screen, but it's been so long since I saw the original that I'd love to see it again.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I was awakened by the scrape, scrape, scrape of the handyman scraping the sleet and slush from the front walk.

So what's the next John Waters movie to be turned into a Broadway musical?  Will it be "Pink Flamingoes"?

Or might it be "Cry Baby"?

I'm listening to Jennifer Jones singing an odd little tune in her first encounter with Joseph Cotton in "Portrait of Jennie", playing right now on TCM.

I'll be departing in a skosh to join my mother and aunt at church for the Christmas Cantata.

PORTRAIT OF JENNIE was my late partner Steven's and my favorite movie to watch together (well, apart from MAURICE).

I'm glad you were able to associate the "scrape, scrape, scrape" noises right off the bat.  Imagine if you'd been just a bit groggier...what might you have thought then?

It IS CRY-BABY! Already written. Does it open this season?

Today will be another low-keyed day here in Johnston SC.

We will be driving up to Greenville tomorrow...an all-day outing for fun and shopping and revisiting old residences, etc.

Cry Baby is currently running out at La Jolla, and scheduled to come in this Spring.  "Scheduled" is the key word if you get my drift.

At some point this week, I will be cleaning out my mother's gutters.  It will be my first gutter-cleaning.

Will that make me a gutter-snipe?

Is it also a musical?  I hadn't heard...it only just "seemed" to be something that would happen.

...And there were some rumblings about a musical version of "Serial Mom" a few years ago, and I also seem to remember a very bargain-basement version of "Female Trouble" being presented in Baltimore sometime in the past.

DR Ron Pulliam - ....But do you have iTunes? ;)

I don't, won't, never will DO iTunes.

I record my CDs onto my iPod.

There are tunes on my iPod Shuffle.  And while I have access to a computer, I can listen to them any time I like.

They just won't play independently of a helper source.

And the word of the day is: MOIL!
Bertram the Chaffeur would MOIL in the LIMO day after day, hopelessly waiting for his lottery numbers to come in so that he could have someone else do the driving for a change.

Skip is already out and about, doing some shopping.
My hunch is that Skip has been out for years!

Ah, then since you don't have iTunes, you can not use you iPod Shuffle then.  The iPod/iTunes/Mac/Apple format is proprietary.

I guess I should point out that iTunes can be used solely as a "Music Library".  You do not have to take advantage of the online buying features.  So, if that is your reason for not using iTunes...

Yes, DR RLP...many online choices.  I just buy the Sunday paper for the TV LISTINGS section which comes in handy...and I still prefer it over the scroll and search function on my screen.  Oh well.

Watching PORTRAIT OF JENNIE as well.

DR JOSE - my guess is that that man was singing to YOU last night.

Well... Since he was singing the song as he was getting off the uptown train... And continuing to sing it when he got back on the uptown train that came by a couple of minutes later(???), well...  In my dreams.  ;)

Well... It is still sort of raining outside, however, the wind really seems to be gusting this morning... Causing chunks of ice and sleet to fall of the trees and roof...  Yikes!

I just checked in with Carlos, and it turns out he rebooked their Amtrak tickets, and they are about to head back down to DC on the 11:00am Acela.  They were going to take 1:05 train, but it was already running at least 40 minutes late.  And since it is originating in Boston... And since Boston and parts of Connecticut had a bit more bad weather than NYC did, well...

It was great seeing them again, and I really had a wonderful time being able to show my niece where I work and live, and what I love doing.  And I was especially encouraged by the fact that she actually followed almost all of what was going on in Mary Poppins - which for a soon-to-be nine-year old is quite a feat considering some adults can't keep track of that plot over the course of it's 2 hour and 45 minutes!  She also said she liked Mary Poppins more than The Radio City Christmas Spectacular.  -Although she did think the live animals at RCMH were very neat.  ;)

Sunday morning greetings!  DH Richard went to Cincinnati for church, but I decided not to spread cold germs.  Yes, my cold has developed and I will probably stay home from work tomorrow - and maybe Tuesday.

I am watching the rebroadcast on Style of Kristi Yamaguchi's "Friends and Family."  It's such a treat to see the skaters and their kids.
