It is SUCH a beautiful day out with cloudless blue sky, but I'll be bundling up to brave the cold (well, cold for us) when I go out to lunch with friends later.
Here, the sky is Black, Black, Black.
Three (count 'em 3) storm systems are piling up along our coastline and the weather guessers have a look of terror on their faces (or perhaps I'm just "imagining" it).
The weather is at the top of the news, and the forecast section of each newscast has double the normal amount of time.
Rain is supposed to be approaching in quantities they're afraid to predict. It will rain today. It will rain Friday. It will rain Saturday. I haven't heard about Sunday. Frankly, they may not be counting their chickens when it comes to Sunday.
The unheard-of has also happened. Area ski resorts have announced that when the snows start up, accompanied by the high winds that are part of the package, they will ALL close their doors and they will close ALL the ski runs until it's passed.
I've never heard a weather forecast include such information before. "Be careful on the passes", yes, I've heard that. "You might want to take more time and have food and water in your vehicle", yes, I've heard that. But I haven't heard them say "Stay Home!" before.
I'm seriously considering taking tomorrow off. The rains are supposed to be at their most fearsome tomorrow between 6 a.m. and noon.
