Good morning!

Beautiful chilly winter day. Supposed to be warming into the 60s this afternoon. I'll be inside for most of the day.

I have always found THE RITZ on film kind of clunky. I'm glad it preserved Rita Moreno's Tony-winning performance, and I think the cast is wonderful, but it didn't quite have the flow or momentum I was expecting from a Richard Lester-directed farce.

I do agree that Treat Williams is wonderful. In fact, I've always thought he stole the picture from the other cast members.

Don't forget that there IS a new episode of HOUSE tonight following the Super Bowl. The TV schedule says it will start at 10:15, but, of course, that's just a guess-timate.

Naturally, I won't be watching the Super Bowl. I'm going to continue with SOUL FOOD today, but I'm going to try to sneak in LIFE OF BRIAN in the early evening if I can. I will need a break from that low-key drama they keep generating on SOUL FOOD.

Happy Birthday DR EDISAURUS!!

Bride of Christ or Bride of Satan?
As comic Robin Tyler has semi-famously said, "Always a bridesmaid, never a groom."

I have something to say.

AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

For some unknown reason, a lot of my "favorite sites" have disappeared from my Favorite Sites list.

They're gone, vanished, booted right off of the computer.

And I can't blame Jose, because his blog is one of the sites that has been booted, and I don't think he's quite nimble enough to boot himself.

So, I must spend much of my day before going to work reconstructing what I remember wanting on my favorites list.

Bleh.

Good morning, all! I set off another bomb this morning in the apartment at 8:30, and I've been in Toyland since 9, finessing what I've written on LADY OF THE SLIPPER so far. At 2:45 I'm meeting my friend Tara to see CLOVERFIELD. Then, I shall return home, air out the apartment and tidy up.

I will be E&T most of tomorrow, although I may come down to the office later in the afternoon and cart the computer back home. I expect UPS to bring my new storage bins and Staples should be delivering another filing cabinet. I want to be there for their deliveries since I've been stressing out my super at bit with my numerous trash bags in the past 19 days and I don't want to bother him any more than necessary.

THE RITZ onstage was one of the funniest plays I've ever seen, and I'm happy the film kept a lot of the original cast; Steve Collins was replaced by Treat Williams, who was fine, and I've forgotten who played the Kaye Ballard role onstage, where I think it worked better as a farce since it was really about the doors and the timing. Rita Moreno's performance was one of the greatest I've ever seen onstage, and I'm delighted it's preserved on film. I like the film a lot.

Lettuce Entertain You is an actual company!  Based in Chicago, it owns several restaurants.

Just something I've known about for a while.

Good morning all...looks to be a busy day ahead for me...mom e-mailed me to say she needs to go to Best Buy for new speakers for her new computer...Dog Bosco is going to go and visit one of my former co-workers...my buddy Jim and I will be eating someplace at some point today once he returns from a visit to Seattle...and all I really want to do today is sit on the couch and veg in front of the TV!!

I did forget to mention that while babysitting last night, little 5 year old Taylor loved the movie THE DOLLY SISTERS, although she did think that Betty Grable and John Payne kissed much too often. She insisted we watch it a second time.

Well, I guess I'll head down now and get laundry ready for washing. Then, I'll start looking around the kitchen to prepare something for lunch.

Here is a picture of my Great Grandfather Mathew Stanley and his lovely wife Effie.
They had three children: Irene, Eldon, and Horton (my grandfather).  Effie passed away shortly after my grandfather was born - and the children were sent out to different relatives unless needed on the farm.

Quoth Jose last night:

DR JMK - Well, who knows?  If you had found that cliff, maybe the EMT attending to you could have been the son of Frances Farmer's nephew who happened to grow up in Brazil!

Ummmm.....thanks?   ;)

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BIRTHDAY, DR EDISAURUS!

Thanks, td! So far, so great!

My lovely producer had lilies and a hydrangea waiting for me in the editing room. I will be able to plant that to replace some of the ones we lost during the drought.
