Good Evening!
Well, my foodie-friend, Michael, and I ended up at Dean's - in DR elmore's neck of the woods - for dinner. I was in the mood for Italian, and even though I'm a fan of Dean's Square Pie, I really wanted pasta. So, I got their Buccatini and Meatballs - I was just in the mood for something basic. It was very good. Michael got their Penne Amatriciana, but got it with Fettucini instead of Penne. We both enjoyed our meals.
Afterwards, since we were in the 'hood, I walked Michael over to Edgar's Cafe where we drooled and dreamed over their dessert case. Strangely enough, we both resisted the various temptations - although, that Pumpkin Bourbon Mousse Pie looked reallllllly good. Well, then, again since we were in the 'hood, I walked Michael over to Cafe Lalo.
My last few visits to Cafe Lalo had been disappointing and underwhelming, but being the Good Enabler that I am, I felt I had to show Michael the place. Well... When we walked in, I could tell they had brightened up the lighting, spiffed up the display cases, and the vibe seemed a bit friendlier and less aloof... I decided to take a chance, so I ordered a few
spumenti and quarsmali... As did Michael.
As we walked out up Broadway, we both started to sample our cookies, and, surprise of surprises, they were delicious. They were well-made and very fresh too. Totally yummy. I turned to Michael and said...
Well, that was Cafe Lalo.
-"Well, that was a mistake."

*And, yes, we both walked back up Broadway to 116th before Michael headed back to his place, and I headed home. -A nice 30 block walk from Cafe Lalo.
