I went to the health food store to pick up a few groceries. I never realized how much drama can take place while food shopping. The person doing the bagging at my check-out was quite slow and the checker was oblivious. She kept checking, despite the fact that the bagger was two customers behind. When she finished ringing me up she was impatient for me to slide my credit card through the machine, but, because of the back-up, I was still a couple feet from said machine. I tried to explain that we were backed-up, but she was far from interested. Then the lady behind me got impatient because her groceries had been rung up, but things weren't moving. Short of plowing into the woman ahead of me, I really didn't see what I could do about it. I was hoping the manager would appear before a riot broke out. Then the bagger asked me if the woman behind me and I were friends--because, presumably we'd exchanged a couple words. At that point it was all too ludicrous.
I have new compassion for DR Woody's work life.
