As we move to Page 2 this announcement:

Brian d’Arcy James will play the title role in “Shrek the Musical,” DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions Ltd. announced. The Broadway show, to begin previews in November, will also star Chester Gregory II as Donkey, John Tartaglia as Pinocchio, Sutton Foster as Princess Fiona, Christopher Sieber as Lord Farquaad, and Kecia Lewis-Evans as the Dragon.

Now I, like Bretty and others, am not fond of the recent rash of movies to musicals phenom but I do love me some Brian d'Arcy James and some Christopher Sieber and some John Tartaglia!

Flipping out is a time honored American tradition.  Flipping out because of traffic is a necessary part of one's day.

I think that ANY movie featuring Burgess Meredith should have the word Torture in the title.

The only way I would see said SHREK or MASK would be if sometime during they evening they promised to trot Miss Carroll Baker out onstage and let her stand there in a long white evening gown smoking a cigarette in a white holder.  That I might go to see.

I have an Ethel Merman compilation called An Earful of Merman-Songs from Her Films and Shows, 24 songs ranging from An Earfull of Music to Let's Be Buddies. I also have the OBC of The Secret Garden.

We may watch something on the VCR or DVD tonight. I don't know yet. We have laundry to do and then dinner and then we will figure it out.

I have mucho theatre coming up. From Tuesday the 25th of March through Tuesday the 15th of April I have a show each week.

Very exciting theatre news, DR BEN.  We are awaiting the reviews.

I remember the movie MASK did not at any time during its initial run let any photographs of the the makeup be in the advertising.  I still don't get it.  He looks like a Westmore character from STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION.

I am glad DR MBARNUM is enjoying War of the Satellites.  It is one of those movies that posits the theory that US spaceships have HUGE nearly empty rooms with very high ceilings and sliding doors....and that the crew sit in roomy barcoloungers for takeoffs and landings.

TOD:

DVD - Dr Blood's Coffin
CD - Ah Nee Nah - Native American Meditation
Book - Public Enemies, soon to be a major motion picture starring Johnny Depp as Johnny Dilliinger

DR Matt H. - did you say at some point that when Lost returns in five weeks, it will be on a different day or at a different time?

DR FJL - have you seen this?

Bad Musicals Festival '08 submissions deadline is March 31

NO, these are not bad plays, they have to be really GOOD plays that are politically incorrect, political satire, contain bad language/bad puns, or the ilk. They can be musicals, plays with music, or any combination of the two, but under 45 minutes. Produced/unproduced okay.

It doesn't say anything about containing good puns.     :D

You load sixteen puns, and what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt.
So Henny, don't you call me, 'cause I can't go;
I owe my jokes to the company store...

Friday morning greetings!  Back at my desk today after yesterday's all-day seminar.

TOD -

CD(car) - audiobook - Joyce Carol Oates' The Falls, read by the late Anna Fields.  It's quite ironic to hear Anna's voice describing the swirling water of the Devil's Whirlpool, because she died when her home was flooded in 2006.

DVD - No Country for Old Men

Good morning, all! Last night, I dreamed that I was visiting my parents in our old house on Goldman Avenue, and during the night, someone entered the house and stole my computer, relacing it with another. Curiously, the computer looked more like a portable 1960s stereo phonograph, but I was all fraught over lost passwords and info. My parents were completely apathetic no matter how much I carried on with phone calls to the police and general concerned behavior.  I have no idea what provoked this one!

So, I've spent the last hour in contemplation of my family relationships, from my mother and father to Randy and Jo and the Macbeths, and that leads to nuclear family relationships and my position in those. Hmmm . . .

Today, hopefully new glasses frames will arrive and I can see again clearly, and I have some writing and some cleaning.

TOD:
DVD: Stardust (still!), The Rake's Progress
CD:  Benjamin Luxon and Bill Crofut, Bless The Bride, The Brain from Planet X
    VCR:  short art films

Perhaps DR elmore3003 meant to write "tart" films?  ;)

Can nubile young men be tarts?

Good morning!

I had a wonderful night's sleep, the best in many days (thank you, NyQuil), and it's a beautiful day outside. I feel better, still probably not the 100% I'd like but much improved from yesterday. Thank goodness what I had was a mild case of whatever it is that's going around. (I think everyone I know has had a touch of this during the winter.)

And thanks again for all the good wishes yesterday.

I was not a huge fan of the movie, but with a cast like that, I'd be first in line for a ticket if I was in NYC.

It's a very entertaining series (the second season starts on Sunday, I believe). No, not always accurate in terms of history, but it's beautifully produced and performed.
