I began my evening by watching the bonus material on the second disc in the THERE WILL BE BLOOD set. Not much there actually, less than an hour's worth of material all told.

There were a couple of deleted scenes, one outtake, a 15 minute montage of the still photographs, newsreels, and films that gave Paul Thomas Anderson the look and feel for the movie prior to filming, two trailers, and a 26 minute silent movie (with a new score) called "The Story of Petroleum," made in 1927 which is when the events of the film conclude.

Next, I watched ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE on HD-DVD. Not a great reenactment of the Mary Queen of Scots story/Spanish Armada defeat. I thought the Mary section was hopelessly muddled. None of the conspirators were given their names (no Babbington, no Ballard, for example) so unless one knew the history beforehand, it was a guessing game knowing who was doing what to whom.

I did like Clive Owen as Walter Raleigh, but he could do this part standing on his head. It didn't take a great performance from him. I was surprised to see in the credits that it was Samantha Morton as Mary. I wouldn't have recognized her at all. As usual, I loved Tom Hollander as Mary's "jailer."

Since the "making of" documentary was only 9 minutes long, I watched that, too. They all rave about how Cate Blanchett is the definitive Elizabeth, but I don't think so at all. I still think Glenda Jackson's triumph in those six parts of ELIZABETH R are without equal (and worthy of the two Emmys she won for it).

And then I finished the evening watching JOHN ADAMS which I had recorded. I agree with DRs Elmore and Cilla: I enjoyed it too since this part of the story is new to me. And the previews for next week look equally intriguing.

I JUST got finished catching up with Medium, having watched the recent two-parter this morning. It's been pretty good lately, but Anjelica Houston is, um, not easy to watch.

I just double-checked my iCalendar for this week's schedule. I already knew that I'd be working/playing from basically 10-5 each day this week - WOW! Just like regular people!

- however, over the course of the next five days, I'll be at four different venues, so... Just had to make sure I've implanted tomorrow's location now so that I don't end up staying on the A train an extra stop or two... which has happened once or twice before. !SPOO

I think MEDIUM is one of the unsung dramas on TV currently. If you buy into the premise, the stories are consistently engaging, sometimes downright scary and/or troubling, and almost always satisfying. The portryal of the family dynamic on this show is the best on TV: these people look like they could actually BE a real family.

I'm not sure I've read whether NBC has picked it up for another season yet, but I'd be shocked if it got canceled.

Watched three more Rookies episodes, which I'm enjoying very much. I must say, this Leonard Horn director was very good. The worst is Earl Bellamy. Also, by episode seven, Elmer was gone, so far replaced by Allyn Ferguson and Jack Elliott, and Pete Rugolo.

Today, I went to Seattle and saw ~~Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell~~...umm...~~Carmelina~~...I mean Mamma Mia! this afternoon.

The audience loved it. I liked it a lot. I didn't totally "love" it, but thought it was very good. All the actors/singers/dancers were very good (lots of eye candy...male and female!

At the end of the show after the bows, one of the actors spoke to the audience about the Broadway Cares fundraiser happening. They had actors with buckets to take donations from the audience as they left the theater. They also had show posters autographed by the entire cast for only $40. I got one of those and my sister got a Mamma Mia apron for $20.

I have the original London and Swedish cast recordings of Mamma Mia! and was going to bring them to listen to on the way up to Seattle, but I left them at work.
