And I ended the evening welcoming back WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB to prime time. I enjoyed seeing the show, enjoying having a handsome guy get interested in Lindsay (Angie Harmon), and the story was pretty good.

So, you're assuming the Customer Service Desk has that kind of cash in their drawer?

And no, I may not say "it is now store policy."  It is not store policy.  What you are suggesting is passive-agressive, which is totally against store policy.  We, as cashiers, are expected to knuckle under and smile sweetly.  Which most of the time is not a problem - we would much rather work with the customer than be their adversaries.

A "no bills larger than a twenty" policy would also be adversarial.  We don't do that.

As for the banks - in talking with these two guys who pull these stunts, the banks would much rather not see the two dollar bills or one dollar coins, either.  They'll ship them out, but don't expect them to take the ship back in.

Why wouldn't your Customer Service Desk have that amount of money?  I would hope they would.

As for being "passive-agressive", well.. I was just trying to find some sort of way to make the whole situation easier for you since it really does seem to bug you.  Having worked in the retail world for a bit, I know how odd bills and change - and traveler's checks(!) - can complicate matters, but, yes, it does come with the job.   And, heck, since you know these guys by sight, there's no surprise involved.   So, just take a couple of deep breaths and keep smiling if there's nothing else to be done.

Have you brought this up with management?

As for the "No Bills Larger Than $20", well... Some of the Safeway's in NoVA have that rule between the hours of 11:00pm and 6:00am.  -However, if they are purchasing over $80.00 they will allow them.  It's basically to help them from clearing out their change drawer - and, apparently, it's also to prevent people from passing off counterfeit bills.  -Do you keep those special pens in your drawer to check the bills?  7-11 stores also have a similar policy - and have that sign stating that "Cashier Has Access to Less Than $50" after a certain time since they put most of their cash directly into the safe as it comes in.

As for banks not taking money, well... How come I always seem to get caught behind the person depositing a ton of rolled coins... that are being recounted at the window?

Sorry. I'm downstairs on my laptop checking out the home wireless network and don't have a scanner available for doing a WIZARD OF OZ page dance.

JMK, I have only had one puppy that "leaked".  Sadly I have had many older dogs that did more than leak.  If I had to choose one over the other, I guess I would prefer it during the puppy stage.

Oooh, hostile much?

In an honest world, the customer would leave notice as to why he/she is stiffing the waiter.  But no, the idea of a confrontation is too much for some people.  (There may have been a good reason for the slow service, like trying to take care of too many tables at one time.  But that never happens.)

Let's put it another way, Jose.  Would you think it fair if your employers paid you less because they didn't like your tempi?

I don't think I'd ever use "Turtle Tip" - it was just something I saw on the news.

And as for my employers paying me less... Well... There's a reason I joined the union!

I wonder if DR vixmom has already warned her about the Delaware contingent?

;DYou were there the first time we met Vixmom and the Vixter, remember?  You were leading the tour!

I remember.

Let's just say, that it's much easier to incorporate visuals, hyper-links and graphics in a post than it is in person.  ;)

...And since I just saw the commercial...

I wonder how big the box office will be for the first weekend of the Indiana Jones movie?  The mind boggles.

...PBS had a program on the nine days that Agatha Christie was missing after her husband asked her for a divorce in the late 1920s....
Doctor Who will have a story based on the same incident later this season, titled "The Unicorn and the Wasp," written by Gareth Roberts, who also wrote last season's "The Shakespeare Code."  He handles history-based stories well.

Agatha will be played by Fernella Woolgar.  The story will also feature Felicity Kendal.

Of course, what the Doctor and Donna find out about Agatha and those missing days will probably not be the same as what the PBS program revealed.

I am hoping that THE BRAIN is moving along sans percussion this evening and everyone onstage and in the audience is having a grand time!

Well, I'll be riding into work tomorrow morning with my brother, and then hopping on the subway to get to Union Station, and then head on down to Richmond... And since my brother leaves the house at 7:00am, well...

Goodnight.

I'm going to close for the night.

I've got to get der Brucer going tomorrow - we're heading to Peppers, a store that specializes in pepper sauces.  I'm plum out of Sriracha!   :o

Back from a really excellent run-through - the promised audience of high schoolers never showed up, despite two confirmations, so that was annoying, but we had about ten people sitting in the audience and there were lots of laughs, which was very helpful to the cast.        I must now write notes and notes.
