Today I'll probably watch SUPERNATURAL while I'm cooking and eating lunch. Then, I'll be back to the reviewing chores with THE FIRES WITHIN. I've never seen this Louis Malle film, but have heard so many wonderful things about it that I'm really eager to see it.

There look to be a fair number of bonus features on the disc, too, so it'll likely keep me occupied most of the day until prime time TV tonight.

I forgot to mention it on Thursday but actor Van Hansis who plays gay teen Luke on AS THE WORLD TURNS did indeed garner an Emmy nomination for his performance. He was also nominated last year and didn't win, much to the surprise of many in the industry, so I'll be looking forward to how he fares in this year's contest.

There's simply nothin' better than sitting out on the verandah sipping a tall, cold mint julep.  The mint adds that nice cool "minty" internal rush to the taste buds and the julep quietly hammers you into complacency until you start "never mindin'" the heat and humidity and gnats.

Never underestimate the power of gothic references!   ;)

I guess I'm done with my morning internet surf and need to head down to get ready for my usual Friday errands.

I saw the UPS truck pull up, but I got distracted by something I was reading and didn't see whether he came to the side porch here or not. I may have a surprise waiting for me downstairs (or not).

In my CD player, The Brain From Planet X in honor of bk's opening weekend at the Chance -- and to get those "break a leg" vibes going for him and his cast and crew.

'Survivor' SPOILAGE

j;lkj;lksjf;lkj;lk;oiasdtjhsag;lkjhasot iyuhg;jklag;kljast;lkj I agree with you, DR Jennifer, about the sweet results of the tribal council.  Amanda is my favorite of the women and it really irked me to see the others turn on her -- except Parvati -- especially Erik.

My only wish is that Parvati and Amanda had cast their votes for Natalie instead of Alexis.  Amanda was right:  Alexis was no threat of any kind (except a vote).  I'm thinking Parvati "might" need Natalie to do her bidding at some point and that Alexis was less reliable.

I enjoyed seeing Erik squirm when Amanda put him on the spot during tribal council. And it was interesting to see the jurors' react affirmatively when she told Erik she had helped him during the merger and that now, when she needed his help, he had nothing to offer.  Score one for Amanda, who is now my favorite.

The end of 'Survivor' SPOILAGE

I say it's over.  Don't be looking up any higher lest you see that which you do not wish to see!

Don't do it.  Move on along.  Nothing to see up above!

Thanks so much to Ron, and to Miss Karen, and to Jeffrey, and to Jose - I guess the thanks get less specific as the day goes on, but they're just as heartfelt.  What a great site this is.

DR Miss Karen, whatever became of Boo-key? He never writes, he never calls . . .

Kids!  I don't know what's wrong with these kids today!

Kids! Who can understand anything they say?

Kids! They are disobedient, disrespectful oafs!

Noisy, crazy, dirty, lazy, loafers!

And While we're on the subject:

Kids! You can talk and talk till your face is blue!

Kids! But they still just do what they want to do!

Why can't they be like we were,

Perfect in every way?

What's the matter with kids today?

Amanda is the "really" pretty one.  She has freckles on her nose.  She was the one who went to Exile Island in last night's episode.

Loved, loved, loved "Lost".

Loved the flash forward.  Loved the Hurley scene with Jack.
