And the word of the day is: SUBFUSC!
When the director of the porno flick realized that his stars weren't that great to look at, he decided to use SUBFUSC lighting.

Few are the people who can appear on screen in high definition without some flaw or blemish!   :P

Gerard Butler is on clearance.
64% off what was already there?  Dang, that costume he's wearing will be reduced to a thong and a bandanna!

MBarnum, I actually meant to post about VANAJA a couple of weeks ago when I watched it.  It's about as anti-Bollywood as you can get, but I think you would very much enjoy it.

The Gurdas Maan concert last night was lots of fun!!! And he is certainly no cheapskate....free bottled water to everyone in the audience plus his newest CD and the recent release of his latest movie on DVD, all for free!!!

When was the last time you attended a show or concert that gave their CDs away for free!!!

...Media check:

CD (car) - audiobook - Bill Clinton's Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World, read by the author.
...
Just be glad he doesn't charge for those audiobook readings like he does for giving speaches.  If he did, the title of the audiobook would be Taking: How I'm Making Sure I'll Never Go Hungry Again.

Last DVD on Wed was Talented Mr Ripley. I liked it then and now; I love the Peggy Lee twofers;I didnt appreciate her when I was younger; I bought an album, GUITARS A LA LEE  only'cause it had a song from THE APPLE TREE which I had just seen in Boston(and  from then on  I was hooked on Miss Lee)...Good news from Metro Detroit-you might have heard me bemoaning the lack of touring shows playing Detroit; It turns out theFISHER was undergoing repairs, but the needleheimers have promised a lot for next Season......I got my closing perf ticket for CURTAINS in NYC, and in case telecharge(on Sun, thanks Dr Jose) of the cancellation line fails me, I went ahead & ordered a SOUTH PACIFIC seat for October. That ought to hold me. .

TV Reminders:

Season finales for:

GHOST WHISPERER

NUMB3RS

Series finale for:

MOONLIGHT (unless they can successfully peddle the show to the CW or SciFi networks. They're working on it.)

And speaking of the SciFi network, you forgot

The Sarah Jane Adventures
Dang, Liz Sladon looks great!

And Doctor Who
where Freema Agyeman starts her return for three episodes as Dr. Martha Jones, and the Sontarans are out to take over the world!  (You should remember Freema Agyeman, DR Matt.  She also played Martha on that three-ep arc on Torchwood earlier this year.)

Friday Media Check:

I haven't had much time for mediaing lately, what with the job shift.  (Which is going better on some days, worse the immediate days after - at least I'm all caught up for the moment (I think, maybe) and have a day off.)

I've been watching some of the background documentaries on my collection of old Doctor Who DVDs.  Not all of the discs have them, but the ones that are there are fairly good, not the fluff pieces they could have been but real detailings of what it took to put on a sci-fi adventure show on a soap-opera budget.

I just reviewed this one, too, Matt.  Let me know what you think.  Most especially, tell me if your DVD has a weird motion anomaly in some of the fast movement scenes that make it look like occasional frames are missing.  I thought perhaps it had been converted from PAL for this reason and got in touch with Romalpalli (sp?), who said it hadn't, but it does this on every DVD player I've played mine on.  I'm wondering if I got a poorly authored check disc.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep an eye out for it. I likely won't do it before THE INVADERS, so it'll be next week, but I'll keep on the lookout for it.

I haven't checked yet to see if my recorder picked it up, but if it did, I could burn you a DVD copy. Of course, you can watch it now at nbc.com, too.

Even though there was no dramatic reveal like past episodes i still cannot wait for teh 2 hour finale in 2 weeks.
There was a lot of very interesting stuff last night. Seeing how the oceanic 6 got home. And watching those interactions. But also seeing how they are all scattered now (they are all separated) makes it more interesting to wonder how they will be the ones to be saved. There was sun and her dad (interesting!). And jack meeting claire's mom and finally realizing claire is/was his sister. And the others taking sayid/kate. And ben giving himself over to the bad men. Looks like a fantastic build-up for the next shows.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And, boy, did I zonk out last night!  I guess the full day of travel, coupled with all the pollen and other junk in the air yesterday, ended up tuckering me out more than expected/planned/whatever.  In any case, I got a great night's sleep - even though I did have some strange music/audition-related dreams.  And since it's now raining, there's not so much stuff in the air today.  -It really was sort of surprising just how much pollen was in the air yesterday.  When I headed out yesterday afternoon, it took me a couple of minutes to realize why my throat was feeling so scratchy.  Thankfully, no runny nose. :)
