Well, you've read the notes, the notes were foolish and had tread, and now it is time for you to post until the fool cows come home.

I'm pretty exhausted, actually.  An emotionally draining day.

Saturday and two more storms overnight with the second still raging.  So look out DR GINNY and DR RICHARD....tonight is supposed to be windy, but no rain is expected in the evening.  That will be good news for FOOTLOOSE.

TOD:  Hmmmmmm.....though not really flops, I would like to have seen a performance during the short/special runs of QUIET CITY and THUNDER ROCK both featuring Miss Frances Farmer.

Musically, I think I would have liked to see Hot September which was a musical version of PICNIC.

I just placed my first of the season 20% order at DEEP DISCOUNT and bought Mandingo (out of stock) and Bad - the second to see Carroll Baker's funny performance....

My DH is working for Bill Moyers today. He's worked with him before, on a series about addiction and recovery, but I don't know if Bill himself will be on this shoot.

He's a nice guy; when Greg told him that his mother was a big fan, he got her address from Greg and when he got home, he sent her a couple of his books that he'd autographed!

A high of 95 is predicted today. There's a lot of stuff going on today, but most of it involves being outside.

One thing is the annual "90 mile yard sale", which starts in North Georgia and ends in Marietta. This same day, Marietta has a citywide yard sale. It would have been a chance to purge more stuff but we didn't get out act together...our schedules did not merge much and this week just flew by!

Of course I posted the above only because BK's close personal friend Wonder Woman was involved.

I, too, would have loved to have seen The Quiet City and/or Thunder Rock.  Thunder Rock has been in print virtually since its inception, but I actually had to get Quiet City from the Library of Congress (and it's way overdue ;) ).  It's not that great of a play, but it would have been neat to see FF careening around stage to Copland music.  :)

Flop Musicals?

I'm sorry that I never got to see Robert Preston and Bernadette Peters when they appeared here in Los Angeles in MACK & MABEL.  I love the score, and the play deals with a part of Hollywood History (Mack Sennett, MabelNormand & the William Desmond Taylor murder case) that has always intrigued me.

Good morning, all! Today is my last day on the vocal book of "The Brain From Planet X," so my finishing up the show - still some tweaks and a couple of vocal score pages I wanty to redo - is nigh. Also, today, a very warm trek to NYPL Theatre Collection. I need to stop at Staples and purchase some CD cases.

DR MBarnum, it sounds as though you are having a wnderful time. There is a young(???) man in the New York City Gay Men's Chorus who could be your twin, only his hair seems redder. Same shiney face.

TOD:
Too many flops, too little time! Some deservedly closed like KELLY or PORTOFINO, and some undeservedly, like OH, BROTHER! (word of mouth before the reviews was fantastic) or RAGS, the only one of the four I saw. RAGS was problematic and confused but worthy of a 6-12 month run, if only for the great cast and often wonderful score.

So, my choice, because I love La Kermesse Heroique, the film on which it's based, would be CARNIVAL IN FLANDERS, because I like the two songs I know from it.  Of course the biggest flop I would kill to have seen is the original 1956, 73-performance flop of Lillian Hellman and Leonard Bernstein, CANDIDE.
