As for the Topic of the Day...

Moose Murders - Just to see if all the stories are true.

And it actually would have been nice to see Lestat from the house of the Palace Theatre.  -And to take advantage of my use-or-lose vacation time in the process.  ;)

I forgot I have a 60th birthday party to attend tonight!

And now I'm off for a sweaty trek to the NYPL. Oy!

Thanks for that link, DR Jose!

Our films have had quite a few outdoor screenings, but I've never been able to attend any.

We do have outdoor films in Atlanta. They used to be in Piedmont Park, but all of the park events have had to find other venues because of the drought, so the movies moved to Centennial Olympic Heat Island Park.

If we had stayed at our home in Marietta, we considered starting a film series as a way to make friends with the owners of condos in the loft that was towering over our house. "Flicks on the Bricks"...residents would be able to vote on the movie to be shown.

Guess that's one less thing to think about!

I am really having a time trying to get motivated to do anything, it's so hot outside. The most constructive thing I've done so far is pay bills, go to the post office and get a cup of iced coffee. Maybe the coffee will motivate me to go to the laundromat.

I'm in the same boat.  I had no real plans for today, but I know I should get out and do something.  I could make it a movie day, or I could just pick another part of town to wander and explore.  We shall see...

From the short list for movies that should be projected on the side of a building:

Help.  Help! Help!!!

We closed World of Wisdom at 11:30 a.m. because all Indianapolis streets were flooded and being closed....at least those in the SouthWest where we were.

Still raining and more raining and MORE RAINING.  You can have it, DR EDISAURUS!!

There were several really scary moments coming home while still in the city, quick running water across the street and many stranded vehicles, and people still trying to drive through it!

I kept making left turns and right turns and finally got out onto 31 North, and made it a few blocks to I-465 which brought me to SR 67 and south toward home....

Our county was designated Emergency Travel only by then, but judging by the cars there were a lot of )(#&$(#&$ emergencies.  High running water caused some distress....and I really didn't think we were going to make it.

I dropped my sister at her house and headed around the corner for home, but I had to park about five blocks from my house because, this was the street sign in my yard:

A high of 95 is predicted today. There's a lot of stuff going on today, but most of it involves being outside.

Almost the same as here, except we are expecting a high of 55.

Water has receded and my car is in the carport.

But more rain is expected.  I haven't heard anything about FOOTLOOSE since I am not scheduled to be there tonight, but Putnam County's main roads are CLOSED.

I have caught up and I think that counts as NOT rushing in, though fool I may be.

Ain't seen any angels, so they must be quaking at the thought of hovering around me.

Then again, I woke up and am alive.

I'm sorry that BK didn't like Nathan Gunn as Lancelot.  i thought he was the best part of that production of CAMELOT.

It's on the COOL side here, this morning.  Sorry Amy!  We are supposed to warm up a bit. It may get into the 70s before the day is over.

yes, DR TCB - I thought Mr Gunn was very good as Lancelot - but the rest of the cast just about done me in.....

I wish I could have seen STEEL PIER.  I was in New York in '97 to see the first preview of TITANIC.  When the TITANIC preview was delayed from Friday to Sunday, I had to flip a coin between seeing two other shows in preview, STEEL PIER and JEKYLL AND HYDE.  I lost the coin toss and saw JEKYLL AND HYDE.  I did think that Robert Cuccioli was very good in the role, but I wasn't terribly impressed with Linda Eder (maybe she had an off-night).

Business is very slow at the garage sale today, because it's raining.  I wonder if we're in for as much rain as DR JRand is getting?

Hi, gang. I'm in Chelsea Studios trying out the wireless.

Let me just say this:

I HATE TOUCHPADS!!!

I know that makes me unconnected and an old fogey but I despise them. I will use a mouse over a touchpad anytime. That being said, being in Chelsea using high speed wireless is fun. There is no table or large enough flat area so I'm using the touchpad to navigate. Anthony is here taking a shortened dance class and he's back so goodbye.

It's not that I didn't think Mr. Gunn was talented, he was just odd, I thought.  Perhaps that, too, was the director's fault.

I've already played through the entire Nudie score, and have futzed with the arrangements some more - still trying to get my head away from the movie charts that I'm so used to, but don't really love.  The best thing I did was rewrite the music for one of Dick Davis's throwaway songs, the title song from the movie within the movie (or stage show) - it's really catchy, and I'm sort of using it now as underscore for other things - very helpful.  And when Rosie and Harry do their Astaire/Rogers bit in Let 'Em Eat Cake, that's the music I use, since the Let 'Em Eat Cake music never worked for that kind of thing.

I finished highlighting the stage directions and am now highlighting them in all the actor scripts so that they'll know when to come in with their lines.  However, that gets easier as I go because only Harry, Rosie, and John have to be fully done - the rest I'm just highlighting where it's appropriate.

It is very very humid here today and in the lower 80s so if feels very hot to me.   I went to the farmers market this morning and got rhubarb, asparagus, snap peas, home made challah bread and bib lettuce.  Then I went to the office and packed up two big brief cases full of work to do this weekend (it's a must not an a maybe) then I went to the Greek Fest bake sale and got some spinakopita, baklava, chocolate baklava (FABULOUS!) greek salad dressing and many other pastries.

2 squares of spinakopita and many of the pastries are going in the freezer.

Then it was off to the grocery store for the staples...milk, bread, tuna for cats etc...

Now I am home in the air conditioning and have no plans to leave.  We are forecast to get thunderstorms the rest of the weekend, so I think I've done all the running I need to do and can just hang here the rest of the weekend.
