Pet Peeves:  (1)  Too many paper clips in the world and (2) way too many of the little white holes that are suppose to stay in the 3-hold puncher...somehow they don't stay inside!  They are EVERYWHERE! :)

I just downloaded and installed Firefox 3 thanks to free high-speed wireless. I shall check my other programs and download anything else I need.

Pet Peeve: Clueless types who mindlessly refer to live plays they've enjoyed as "good flicks."

Hikers walk under one of the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge in Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon.
(Terry Richard / Oregonian)

I love to go a-wandering,
Along the mountain track,
And as I go, I love to sing,
My knapsack on my back.

I AM NOT SPECIFICALLY REFERRING THE CURRENT SITUATION IN CALIFORNIA, BUT:

I prefer to have my laws legislated rather than adjudicated.

But, in regards to CA:

The legislature DID enact a same-sex marriage bill but it was vetoed pending the court's decision on the issue. (The bill was clearly unconstitutional becasue it attempted to change a voter initiative by legislative action -a CA no-no).

I guess bk would also object to anyone who flashed him their "hi beams".  ;D

That is definately a gang sign!  I know this is true, because I read it on the internet.  And if you flash your headlights back at them, they will follow you home and kill you!

I hate not being able to turn off my headlights, especially when entering the drive-in or sneaking home when it's late!

Do they still have drive-ins in Atlanta?

I am playing what is evidently the "big" Bar Mitzvah of the year this afternoon.  Probably around 500 people expected, probably none of whom are worth less than several million.  Do you think a tip jar would be unseemly?  ;)

For a Bar Mitzvah, yes; for a Bris, on the otherhand...

I share some of Singdaw's pet peeves, especially people throwing their cigarette butts out the window. For one thing, it's hazardous during a drought, and for the other...I have to look at them. Smokers will tell you that the butts are biodegradeable, but how many years do I have to look at them before that happens?

Use your ashtrays, people. That's what they're there for!

In Washington State, there is an 800 number you can call to report people who throw cigarette butts out of their car windows, or they throw any other type of litter out of the window.  There is a $1,000.00 fine involved, but I can't see how they could prove the case, just because someone called and reported their boss their neighbor their ex a violator.

We went to a local meat & 3 last night that used to be great. Now it is "under new management". We had a very expensive (for that sort of thing) and very substandard meal. The fact that it was almost empty should have tipped us off. We shan't be going back!

What is a meat & 3?

The church alarm went off and I had to go investigate. No one was there and the alarm pad showed that a window was unsecured. Probably a legit call this time.

I asked this a couple of weeks ago, but what did everyone get on the DD sale?  I'm just wondering if I've missed any goodies.  I've found my DVD purchasing has gone way down now that I am inundated with things to review.  Speaking of which, there are several very nice Acorn/BBC boxed sets available on ewaey.com right now for a very good price.  ;)

How do you find JMK's DVDs on ewaey.com?

I was dismayed to discover our checkbook was off by about $350 from what the bank says we have (to our detriment).  An hour or so of searching for the discrepancy has not resulted in anything, so I am resigned to subtracting the monies from our checkbook balance.  Oy.  Part of this is my bad--I never actually balance the checkbook, I just do a thorough check-off when the statement comes each month, making sure that everything on the statement matches the checkbook.  It was just today I suddenly noticed this big difference in the totals.  Live and learn, I guess.

I have run errands which took me to Home Depot where I purchased many, many pavers so as to complete my back porch.

But before I work on that  I think a nap is needed.

I don't think it's streeted yet, DB, which is why it's not up.  I was lax and got dinged on eBay when I listed something ahead of time, so I'm trying to play by the rules.  That said, it's yours if you want it.
