Fred Landau Is Dead at 90; Started Accounting Concern
LEAD: Fred Landau, founder of Mann Judd Landau, one of the largest certified public accounting firms in the country, died at his home in Harrison, N.Y., Friday. He was 90 years old.
Fred Landau, founder of Mann Judd Landau, one of the largest certified public accounting firms in the country, died at his home in Harrison, N.Y., Friday. He was 90 years old.
Mr. Landau founded the firm, then known as Fred Landau & Company, in 1926.
He was born in Warsaw and came to the United States as a child. He served in the Army during World War I and graduated from New York University in 1920 with a degree in accounting.
Mr. Landau was active in civic, educational and religious organizations. He was a founder and member of the Council of Governors of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
He established several scholarships at N.Y.U., and donated the Fred Landau room at the university's Tisch Hall. He also donated funds for the Fred and Anna Landau Building of the Y.M.-Y.W.H.A. of Riverdale in the Bronx. His wife, Anna, died last year. He is survived by two sons, William, of Scarsdale, and Edward, of Manhattan; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
