That's the title of my next travelogue...

Befuddled By a Bidet

Just remember, Bidet rhymes with Bucket! (At least on the BBC)

I listened to Patricia Routledge sing "Take Care of This House" [ from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue ] on an Alan Jay Lerner benefit recording.  She sounded great!  :D

She is on the original Broadway cast recording of Darling of the Day with Vincent Price...yes, that Vincent Price.  Anyway, she has a song (track 12 on the CD) called "Not On Your Nellie" that's just a hoot!  It's a great song and she sings it wonderfully, along with the rest of the cast. ;D

Good morning, all! I have plenty and I do mean plenty of work at home today and tomorrow. On Tuesday, I will start lugging home the full scores of BABES IN TOYLAND to begin the final round of critical notes, but tilkl then, I have several jobs to finish here.

I have now entered the "check is in the mail" fray, and I hope tomorrow it truly is. Otherwise, life will be quite unpleasant.

And so to work.

I'm not sure if commercial plugs are allowed on this board, so forgive me if they're not.

However, if any of you folk live in San Antonio, TX: I'll be doing a signing  for my new novel, SHADOW WATCHER, tomorrow (Monday, the 23rd) at 7 pm at the Remember the Alibi Mystery Bookstore.

Please stop by and say "Hello".

I'll also be doing a signing next Saturday (28) at the Borders Books on Lamar St. in Austin, TX, at 2 pm.

Enof of commercial.

I actually recorded CAMP ROCK last night. Did anybody watch it?

Thanks for the vibes. My foot is a lot better. It still hurts to put a sock on it. But i tried on a pair of shoes and they felt okay (yesterday the only thing i could put on were flipflops).

The swelling has gone down (yesterday it looked like half a golf ball was stuffed in my foot.

Oh and DR Jose you are very funny (not!) :)

Asking how the scratch on my hand is!  Actually it still has not healed. Although i've been using a home handheld laser on it for a few weeks. And it seems to be doing quite a bit better!

Back from the Washington D.C. area, specifically Arlington, VA.   The train ride was very pleasant, THE VISIT was stunning (we opted to see THE VISIT twice in our two theater slots), the Ritz Carlton was a delight (especially at the special weekend $159 price), and we even managed to get to Union Station early for the trip back, and the ticket agent was nice enough to exchange our tickets for the earlier train with no extra fee.

I must say that people's perceptions of distances are a little unusual in Arlington.

Jose was right that the Siganture warn't no $7 cab ride from the Pentagon City station, also the location of the Ritz Carlton.  More like $11.50 both times we took the ride.

Also, we asked at the hotel for a nearby grocery store, and they seemed to indicate it was just outside the mall.  their definition of "just outside" does not resemble mine.  :)

But I'm just observing, not really kvetching.  The Ritz Carlton at $159 was a bargain indeed, and I would definitely stay there again at that rate for going to the Signature Theatre.  It was very convenient getting a cab to the theater.

Getting a cab back to the hotel at night after the show on Friday night - now that was a (minor)  nightmare, but luckily, we weren't up against any schedule on Friday night.  After the quasi-ordeal calling a cab on Friday night, though, the folks at the theater went out of their way to be helpful on Saturday and all went very well with the cab after the Sat. matinee.

Good morning!

And our cool mornings continue. And I realized that my neighborhood has been very lucky the last two days with the thundershowers. No rain at all fell at the airport for the official readings, though my neighborhood got cooled off and and dampened considerably these last two days. I'm once again sitting next to the open window in my office with a delightful cool breeze wafting through it. Bliss!

I didn't watch/record CAMP ROCK. If it comes out on Blu-ray, I'll watch it there.

I can't tell you how much more entertaining HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 was on Blu-ray because there it was presented widescreen, and it looked like a REAL movie musical. On TV and on the standard DVD, they used the 1.33:1 TV ratio, and it seemed restricted and much less impressive.

Today I'll finish the remaining bonus features on GANGS OF NEW YORK. They all look like interesting featurettes, so I'm sure I'll enjoy them.

On tonight to MAD MEN on Blu-ray which I'm already really looking forward to. I see on the packaging that every episode has a commentary track. (JERICHO's seven episodes also each contained a commentary.) I tend to think of this as overkill.
