Hmm.. Not the most flattering picture of Mr. Hamm, but I think that should suffice for now.

Jon's hair looks very funky in that shot.

It's funny about Jon Hamm, though. I saw him as the guest star in one of the old TV boxsets I was watching - maybe the first season of NCIS or one of JAG's latter seasons. Anyway, he had longish "hippie" hair, so different from the dapper Don Draper that we see on MAD MEN.

RE: Big Brother 10

I'm curious, after last night's show who are people's favorites and who do they really dislike.

I would say my favs are:

Angie
Keesha

And i sort of like memphis okay.

I like steven. And dan is okay.

I dislike:
libra
april
ollie
jerry (although sometimes he's okay)
renny (she is getting more tolerable)

michelle, not liking that much. And jessie not that much. But if they work with angie/memphis, then i can tolerate them.

DR MattH re: THE HILLS

I'm assuming you are reviewing season 3?
If you ever wanted to get a backstory, mtv has stuff online like "all 3 seasons in 11 minutes"...

You mentioned something about it seeming contrived that "enemies" end up at the same place at the same time.

When i first started watching i could not figure the show out. Was it scripted? Was it real?

What i've come to understand (through various interviews...) is that it is supposedly not scripted at all. The producers ask the cast (the 3 leads: adriana, lauren, heidi) their schedules for the week. and then they decide which events to follow.

Some things (like most of the stuff with their parents) are not shown. and there are sometimes people who don't want to be filmed. So that part of their lives are not shown.

I'm not exactly sure how confrontations occur (i.e., people being at the same place at the same time). I sort of suspect that the actual players don't know this in advance. But that others suggest they go to these places.

Note to those who watch FLASHPOINT and/or SWINGTOWN:

CBS has switched their nights of broadcast. FLASHPOINT will now be shown on Thursday at 10 and SWINGTOWN on Friday at 10.

FLASHPOINT has done very well on Friday night, so if it performs well on Thursday, I'll bet CBS will order the series back into production as a midseason replacement.

They are switching FLASHPOINT to Thursdays here too.

There was a big article in the local paper (since the show is canadian) about how well the show is doing on CBS (i think 8 million people watched). I have recorded it but still not watched it.

LOL! I wish I could instead of watching, but it's all part of the job. SOmetimes there are shows I must watch that I'm simply not the target audience for. I hope I can still be objective about the good and bad points of the show, but that doesn't make it any less tedious to sit through since it's hard for me to get involved in these somewhat manufactured problems for these ladies.

The show (the hills) is a huge phenomenon. I wonder why they would get someone outside of the target audience to review it. It doesn't really make sense to me.  I guess as long as you make it clear that you are outside of the target audience, maybe those reading it can decide if they are (to know if they would like it or not).

I have no idea what you will write about the show. But i know as someone who loves the show, it would probably bug me to read a review from someone who obviously hates the show. Although i think if i hated the show, it would probably bug me to have some teeny bop write a rave! So i guess there is no winning! :)

ASK BK DAY

RE: You tag line: "What am I, Ebert and Roeper all of a sudden?"

What are you going to write when Roeper leaves the show later in the year? (Ebert hasn't done the show in a long time)

Oh, I'll write the same thing.

Dear Esteemed BK:

Let's just suppose you don't have a deadline to face, or a project to pursue, that you have lots of time on your hands.  Where, other than any place in California or New York, would you like to go, just to go there?

(Inspired by someone living in Kentucky, who I think misses you, but don't let that sway your decision.)

I'd go to England, Paris, and Japan, and Kentucky.

Good Afternoon!

DR Ron Pulliam - There is a great article about the resurgence of soft-serve ice cream in today's NY Times.  They mention a restaurant in Larkspur, CA, Pizzeria Picco.  Have you ever been there?  And, if so, have you enjoyed their soft-serve topped with spiced cantaloupe?

I've heard that anchovies are great for lubricating stuck locks.

Do they work for scale?

And how do you get them to crawl into those locks anyway?

DR Ron Pulliam - do you leave the toilet seat up?  Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquito larvae.   ;)

Ummm.....as often as the toilet is flushed, I daresay skeeters don't stand a prayer in hell of breeding there.
