Saturday morning greetings!  Like DR Cillaliz, I woke up fairly early this morning - guess my system back in the 6am groove after just one week.

TOD - apricots are the only fruits I don't like.  I'm also not wild about fresh pineapple - prefer canned, packed in juice (not syrup).  Gala apples are probably my favorite and we're out, so I guess a trip to Kroger is in order.

As for the tzatziki, you'll want to take two, three, maybe four garlic cloves (the more the merrier, I say), and finely chop them up with some salt.  Add them to the yogurt cheese - you may want to do this in a bowl, easier to stir things together than in that plastic container.

Peel and seed a cucumber, chop it up fine and try to squeeze as much water out of it as you can.  Add that to the yogurt, along with some finely chopped mint, about a tablespoon should do.  A few grinds of freshly ground pepper and a tablespoon of red wine vinegar also go in the mixture.  Stir it all up, plop it back into that plastic container, and pop it into the chill chest to "meld" for a bit.  It lasts practically forever, and is a great sort of thing to spread on sandwiches, or to dress up veggies (cooked or raw), or whatever else you want to do with it.

I've never come up with a use for the whey that's been drained from the yogurt when making yogurt cheese.  Give it to the dogs, I guess, they love that kind of stuff.

I make mine slightly different. Yes to the garlic, the cucumber. But i actually use sour cream, not yogurt. And i use a bit of olive oil. And lemon juice. And dill instead of mint. And no wine vinegar.

I like some fruit, although i never eat just raw bananas or apples. I like green grapes a lot. And berries (raspberries, strawberries and blueberries).

In Arnold's continued absence, for the word SAPIENT, a possible song of the day:

Natalie Wood/Marni Nixon and Rita Moreno/Betty Wand performing "A Boy Like That"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oxfOncYiag

(Think of SAPIENT when Natalie/Marni sings "I hear your words and in my head I know they're smart")

[Thanks, MattH, for the extra info.  I had forgotten that Rita Moreno was dubbed as well!]

Good morning, all! I'm still pondering if I can hold off on the laundry till Monday. I have to finish up draft #2 of the critical notes, and I may tackle  some of my Lady Of The Slipper notes as well. What I really want to do is watch DVDs al day, and maybe I shall later.

I enjoyed PSYCH quite a lot last night, but MONK is beginning to get on my nerves again with its lousy and inconsistent writing.

Right now I'm listening to a radio broadcast from the early 1950s of a German musical from 1932, Im Weissen Rossl by Benatzky, with several song interpolations by conductor/composer Robert Stoltz, and I'm thinking, they screw the music up as badly as Encores! occasionally does.

TOD:
Granny Smith apples. I'm not sure to what school of flora the kumquat belongs, but if it's fruit, it should be expelled.

Favorite fruits?

I have a half grapefruit and a banana every morning for breakfast, so I guess they're my favorites.

I'm also rather fond of strawberries.

Any special peparations are done by my wife, so you're going to have to ask her about that.

I watched RECOUNT on DVD last night, the HBO movie about the aftermath of the 2000 Presidential Election.

It stars Kevin Spacey, Denis Leary, John Hurt, Laura Dern, Bob Balaban and Tom Wilkinson.

This is a terrific thriller, cut from the same cloth as ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN.  Even though you know how the story is going to turn out, you're still on the edge-of-your-seat, right up to the finish.

They really don't make them much better than this one.

I like to put a little orange juice in the blender and add fresh strawberries and a cut up banana and some ice.   Then blend and drink.

I actually like most fruit.  Not too fond of mangos, but it's mostly the texture - I don't mind the flavor if it's in something

I made it to the farmer's market early today and boy am I glad I did. Great stuff.   It's prime sweet corn season, I like the bi-color (yellow and white).  I also got carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, basil and...I think that's it.

Another reason not to clean the house

Well, I am going to clean the house today. It really needs it.  It's supposed to be hot today, but right now it's about 70 degrees with a great breeze and low humidity. I opened up the windows and man does that fresh air feel good.

Living in bear country and dating one are two different matters, DR MBarnum!

I like most fruit except blueberries and blackberrries. My favorite has always been oranges with seedless green grapes a close second.

Nothing on TV for me tonight, but today I'll be finishing SOUTH PARK - Season 11, and I'd like to get the DVR cleared of shows like THE MOLE, FEAR ITSELF, and MONK.

So those will be my primary viewing for the day.
