I watched SAAWARIYA, which I found to be a truly stunning visual feast.  Highly, HIGHLY stylized, with gorgeous sets, cinematography and a lush, LUSH, LUSH romantic score.

And hero, Ranbir Kapoor, does an entire number clad only in a very light muslin towel. . .for those interested in that sort of thing. . .

They're just about to start Michael Phelps' last relay race. :D

Think I'll mute it and read a book for awhile.

I wish I had one handy where the author didn't end sentences with proprepositions!

The stage director was kind of a tyrant, but I really enjoyed the whole experience. :)

TOD:

Around the 3rd grade I wanted to be a costume designer, but only if I could design clothes in the style of the 1940s and 1950s.

When I was in the third grade, most everbody dressed in the styles of the 1940s.

The larger screen and HDTV clarity is worth EVERY CENT.

Do any of your high-tech gadgets add clarity to political commentary?

First of all: scuppernog - no additional "n".

Not in educated America!

Main Entry: scup·per·nong
Pronunciation: \-ˌnȯŋ, -ˌnäŋ\
Function: noun
Etymology: Scuppernong, river and lake in North Carolina
Date: 1811
1: muscadine; especially : a cultivated muscadine with yellowish-green plum-flavored fruits
2: a sweet aromatic amber-colored wine made from scuppernongs

APPELATION AMERICA

Quote
Scuppernong (MUSCADINE, V. ROTUNDIFOLIA)

Scuppernong is a historically important Native American Muscadine variety. This bronze-skinned grape is a member of the Vitis rotundifolia family, which includes the first native grapes to produce wine. Scuppernong, which has a typically grapey, musky flavor, has been cultivated since 1809. However, wine is said to have been made from wild vine fruit by French immigrants in the mid-16th century. Known by many aliases, including Hickman’s Grape and Bullace, it is mostly grown in the southeastern and Gulf states of the U.S., where it can reach 18% fruit sugar. Ripening near mid-season, it produces sweet-finished white wines. Reportedly, it is very resistant to Pierce’s disease.

I ended my evening watching last night's MONK. ...but there were a couple of funny bits.

Monk: "I think I'll join the Navy."
Natalie: "Please don't!"
Monk: "Why not"
Natalie: "Because I love America."

Or something close :D

*And I really do hope that when all is said and done, when they recounts Michael Phelps' Gold Medal Record, that "they" remember that at least two of them were in team relay events.  He was not alone in that pool for two of those Golds during this Olympics.  Go TEAM!!!!

Phelps did go out of his way in his NBC interview to credit "the team" with his success.

In spite of having tomorrow off, this l'il puppy feels pooped, and needs to sign off so he can get his rest.

And at the stroke of midnight he arose from his bed, observed that is was now officially his birthday, and asked to open his present! The dogs are now being treated to more of Doctor Who!

Okay, this is the bad side of the Michael Phelps hype for the gold:  the relay team wins gold and Michael gets his eighth gold medal (good for him) and he acknowledges the others' work (which is a great thing) and then they show the team members getting their gold medals.  The US nation anthem is playing and they're all standing there, but the camera is only showing Michael Phelps...for the ENTIRE anthem!  NBC didn't show anyone else at all during the whole anthem!  The camera was just on Michael's face.  How rude is that??
