And now I need to finish packing up before we head to the train station.  I may or may not have internet access on the train - even with my iPhone - since the Amtrak tracks always seem to travel through a lot of dead spots, and if that happens, I know I'll have some posts to catch up on once I'm back in NYC.  -Which is a good thing.

Bruce knows when the game is starting.  I don't.
He posts his first 15 names before I'm even out of the blocks.  That's the Home Field Advantage.  But it's OK with me.  Just more of a challenge.  So we do 15, then close down until morning.  I can level the playing field somewhat because my morning starts 3 hours before his does.  So I wait until someone else says "Good Morning" and posts a name.  I think that's only fair.  This has happened.  So I'm going to post a handful of names, but only those I think Bruce might get, or already have up his sleeve.

Recap of the Birthday Dinner:

My original thought was to head to Japonica, a sushi restaurant near the Boardwalk here in Rehoboth Beach.  While walking through town (we've been parking outside the town limits, due to the parking meter rates having skyrocketed lately, and that's assuming you can even find a parking spot  :P), der Brucer also tossed out a couple of other names: Delfino's, a new Italian spot, and Porcini House, where chef Jay Caputo plays with Mediterranean ideas.  Chef Jay is regularly dropping by the store for fresh produce, and we've gotten to know each other a bit, but der B and I have never stopped by his restaurant, so I decided to change our plans a bit and we headed on over.  Very nice place, great ambiance, good service.

The birthday dinner ACT I

Dip - three ways
The three dips being guacamole, hummus, and spicy cheese.  A nice way to start, and very popular - two other tables near us also had this as a starter.

Tuna Tartare (sorry Charley)
That's a tartare of tuna on top of diced cucumber, with a citrus reduction.  Good combination of flavors.  The ring-mold presentation is a bit old-fashioned - maybe if I suggest to Chef Jay that he try a box mold instead, just for the surprise of it.

Gab-fest

der Brucer
We ended up having a very nice conversation with the couple next to us, who are moving here from Philly.  Der B taking pictures was what started the talk going: "Evidence for the lawsuit?" the husband suggested.
