Oh, and my parents are coming into town today too. They're probably arriving at Port Authority some time soon, and they'll be seeing GYPSY this afternoon.  And I may or may not see them after the show for dinner. We shall see.

That's actually old news to me. Still interesting, but old. ;)

DR JoseSPiano - I knew that you knew about this documentary.  I just meant that it would be more interesting to you than to most, since you actually worked with all of these people.

bk - So did Billy Porter and his team "update" the sound of the show as was indicated in its press release?

There was certainly more percussion than I remember, and it didn't sound as good as the original - at least my memory of the original.

So for Ask BK Day...

Is there a show or two that you think would benefit from an update of its sound? -Whether through its arrangements and/or orchestrations.

Certainly I wasn't fond of the updates to A Chorus Line, as you know.  I'm a fan of the original orchestrations of most shows, so the redos, for me at least, are usually problematic.  For example, I don't like Tunick's reduced orchestrations for 110 In The Shade but do love the originals.   I gather most of the redos these days are for monetary reasons, cutting down the band size.

But unless it's part of a concept, I'd keep the originals every time.

My question for Ask BK Day:

When they finally invent a time machine (and you know someday they will) and you get a chance to go back in time, do you have a list of people whose butts you would like to kick?

DR Sandra has quite a list made up.

Oh my yes.  And I'd kick those butts BEFORE they could do anything horrid to me.  And I'd kick them hard.

I'll be spending much of my birthday watching one of my favorite shows, MEDIUM, in its fourth season box set. I watched the first two episodes today, and I should easily finish the remaining two episodes on that disc and the four on the next disc, too. Really love the show and am looking forward to them.
