There's a new episode of Iron Chef America tonight, followed by the pemere of Alton Brown's new miniseries, Feasting on Waves, where he explores the Caribbean.  Typical Alton, the first episode is titled "Sugar on Isle One."

DR MBarnum - last night I watched BLACK and enjoyed if very much.  Have you seen it?  It's gorgeous to look at with a compelling narrative.  There are no songs or dances.

I believe DR Jane was saying that she could read those maps (from Fox news). It was some others she was having a problem with.

Thank you for the compliment, however I don't read maps.  Alright, sometimes I read street maps, or road maps, but it takes me forever to do so.

I have discounts with my membership in some of my organizations and can get a car for 3 days for about the price of round trip cab fare from the airport to the hotel.  So, this way I'll be free to do exploring either via the metro or via car.  I had forgotten how much free time I have  7 hours on Friday and about 5 hours on Sunday.

Is parking free at the hotel in Bethesda?

DR elmore, thank you for the news on DR FJL.  The celebration last night sounds lovely.

DR Jennifer, congrats on your weight loss.

DR Cilla, I think Gigi is a cute name & goes well with giraffe, as does Georgie. ;)

I just watched Fellini's LA DOLCE VITA, a film I had always wanted to see and never had.  And now that I have, i'm pondering it.I think I respected it more than I liked it, but I've always had problems with Fellini films. I'm also pondering how to proceed with a dirty trick I suspect someone's pulling on me, so there will be more information to follow on that front.  Once I'm certain.

The version I have (which I think is the "official" version, copyright 1961 by Samuel Bronston), starts "A bell rings/In the hush of the evening."  There is a line later that goes, "So be mine love and like warm winter wine, love".

The Billy Storm version starts with the line "Be Mine Love...."

That's the one!  It even acknowledges The Helen Keller Foundation.
I rented it because it was from the same director as SAAWIRYA, which I still think is incredible.

I know I date myself, but I think that the 1969 Best Song Oscar (given in 1970) was the last group of all-great nominees.

Wow!  I date myself, too!

I even go to bed with myself on the first date.

Oh, I will not be scorekeeping tomorrow.  I'll be at work.

You will have to deal with der B instead.  Sorry about that.

Alton Brown briefly employed Edi a few years back.

Tomovoz, it came, but it is the version I mentioned--if you listen, you'll see he (she?  what is that singing, anyway?  ;) ) starts on the final 8, then comes in at the bridge and does the final 8 again.  The first 16 are never sung at all.  And so it is that snippet I quoted--"Be mine, love and like warm winter wine, love."
