I was hoping to sleep till nine, but that didn't happen.  My internal clock seems to be set earlier these days, and I'm jiggy with that.

Isn't that one of the icon buttons: double chin removal?    ;)

I understand that HOW THE WEST WAS WON is being released today on Blu-Ray. The New York Times gave it a rave review. Did you see it yet? And if so What did you think of it?

It is suddenly dark as night here with loud thunder rumblings.  I  so wish I were home to comfort my dog!

Maybe we'll lose power and I can go home.

I have it ordered and it was shipped on Monday, so I'm not expecting it until Thursday. Believe me: whatever day it comes, I will be watching it that night. It is one of my all-time favorites.

The clouds moved off and now we have blue sky with large, fluffy clouds. Looks hot outside already, but I have had the A/C on since Saturday, so I'm not feeling any of that heat.

I guess I'll head down now, check the mail, and start thinking about what's for lunch. Then, it's on to that Max Ophuls classic!

I'm also reviewing one of the Criterion Ophuls releases.  I wish Criterion would get around to Lola Montez--the previous release has a badly damaged soundtrack.

I'm beginning to think that if any DR's with even a trace of a chin or chins are going to functions where their photos will be taken, they should budget into their costs air/train travel and accommodations for Jose; I totally could not implement the rules of having my pictures taken and at least in the photos I've seen so far look even more like Jabba the Hut than I seem to in person.   The cousin that I sent Jose's write-up to looked radiant in person and photos so far, by the way.

I have to get a new driver's license photo this month, so I am trying the "Lose 30 Pounds" approach. I'm not doing very well.

Good morning, all! I'm sorry to have been E&T but I had a lot of Victor Herbert work to get to as well as this Moross score.  I'm trying to drag in some fast bucks to pay off next week's estimated taxes. As far as the initials game went, all I could think of was Houghton Mifflin, and that's a publishing house, so I spent the day working and running errands: NYPL, prescriptions, groceries, and the jobs on my desk.  I'm still waiting for the job on MOST HAPPY FELLA to start, and I jut got a request for a medley from THE STUDENT PRINCE, which I'll begin this weekend.

I have to run off now for a 1 pm appointment with a nutritionist. I was going to walk down to 57th and 5th Avenue but it's gotten very dark and rainy. Once i'm outside, I'll decide it it will be a trip by foot or bus.

When I'm back I'll catch up.

TOD: If I'm being good, I have yogurt as a snack. Until I can't stand the thought of it any more.

If I am being bad, I like tortilla chips. Now I have some small low-fat popcorn bags to take care of the crunchy-salty needs.

That film scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.

You'll probably have LOTS of stuff from the nutritionist to read when you get home.

He finally feels that he can now, what with society being so much more accepting these days.

I'd read that he was being "outed."  I don't know why he would wish to be in a closet anyway.

In response to yesterday's post by S. Woody White:

Well, here it is, not Monday, and I am posting something-----The new refinements to the game came about because I didn't think Bruce and I were being fair to the other players.
This IS a contest.  It's a game.  If done right, it's a great game.  You seem to want to make it a shared learning experience.  If that's what it is, it's a mediocre one at best.  We wanted you all to have more of an advantage.  If you happen to be the only one on the website in the middle of the night, you should just have to wait until someone else posts.  It will happen eventually.  This doesn't prevent you from compiling a list so that when someone else does post, you'll be prepared.  Hitting the tennis ball against the wall is a small price to pay to turn this into a great, fair game. Or contest.
The one thing we should watch out for is if someone posts a name that has already been posted.  This should not be grounds for posting another name.
Bruce, as far as my senility is concerned, there's no doubt that it exists, but even though I originally used to play this game with reversible initials, we never decided to do that in mid-game.  That's what I objected to.
