It really hasn't warmed up today. Right now, I have my office window open but the breeze is so strong and cold that I'm thinking of closing it if the breeze keeps up.

Hey, FJL, how about a reciprocal amazon review for The Brain CD?  And others who haven't done one, why don't you?  It's ever so helpful.

It matters not "what they realized" - if the US President asks for air time, the US Networks are going to give air time. Anyone who watched the US evening news should have anticiapted networks broadcasts delays at 9PM.

der Brucer

A few of them, yes.   On the West Coast, we don't often get impacted by such events.  Many times, the speeches are over by the time we get home from the evening commutes.

Locally, Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC and one PBS station will air live coverage of such a speech.  Fortunately for me (and many more like me), the rest of the ComCast programming airs unscathed.

Sometimes, the major networks air the programming being preempted on alternate local stations.

I can't even remember if I posted when I got back from the long jog.  I'm back from the long jog.  I then had to do the two annoying errands, which, thankfully, went quickly and hopefully it means we're over THIS week's annoyances.

I then had to package up several boxes to ship, and now I'll take them to the postal office.

Yesterday I purchased cards & accidentally left one on the counter at the store.  .  When I called the store to ask if they had the card, they immediately said they hadn't known my name and were holding the card under Sherlock's name.  I think that is sooo cute.

All the employees in the store have enjoyed watching Sherlock grow up.

I don't see what everyone is so worried about - Hillary Clinton is in the Senate and she knows everything and has all the answers....she was up at 3 a.m. this morning working on it, so everyone else can just RELAX.

She wasn't working on it at 3:00 AM, she was on the phone  ;D

I normally do not gamble; I have nothing against it, but if i put money in a machine, i'd at least like to get stamps or a Diet-Coke.

You can put coins in those vending machines in the Men's Room - that is not as much a gamble as not using the product.

I was able to get 4 1/2 more episodes of FRIDAY THE 13th watched. Still more to go, and though I'll get a couple more watched tonight, the majority of the evening will be given over to TV. Can't help it. Thursday is just too jam packed with shows to be able to record everything for later. Some has to be watched "live."

One of those episodes was directed by David Cronenberg, a very effective one on a phony faith healer who found a cursed glove which would allow him to heal but then the injury would have to be passed on to another before the glove would heal again. Excellent episode, one of my favorites thus far.

Thank you DR Laura for this link.   I am printing off cards and will give them to my friends~!

The one I'm in the middle of watching is a rather stylish vampire saga told in black and white (a cursed cape turns the wearer into a vampire). I'll look forward to see where this goes.

I switched over to the DVR to skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest in the show or preview.

While I had the DVR fired up, I went ahead and started watching last night's CSI: NY. Only got about 15 minutes in, but I'll probably finish this tonight after GREY'S ANATOMY goes off which will make me late for logging back on later tonight.

But I will be here eventually.

I think it's only me and DR cillaliz who are watching this year.  I was definitely okay with who went home (it was who i thought would go). In the first weeks especially it has a lot to do with who your partner is and how well known you are (if you have a fan base). Ted simply had a new partner who nobody knew (and who didn't seem to catch on quickly like julianne or her brother). And i just didn't know if he'd have a large fanbase.

I was definitely happy for rocco (right now i think he is one of my favs). Btw, are mario lopez and karina dating cause i happened to catch an episode of sunset tan and they were both on and they introduced her as his girlfriend!

I agree about last night. Not who I thought would go home, I liked him - didn't think he was a good dancer, but liked him. I thought Mario and Karina were together for awhile. Don't know why but I did

I used to bet on Sports once in a while.   I won $1000.00 on a superbowl and $535.00 on the NCAA tournament.   I've won $100 or $200 now and then.  I got most of it buying squares on the chart at bars, where if the score ends up on your numbers you win.  I actually picked the winners in the NCAA.

I haven't watched sports in years...maybe I should start doing that again

Finally!  Here's an eloquent statement about the bogus banned book list that circulated in the aftermath of Sarah Palin's nomination:

Our Burning Issue

I'd been waiting for something to appear in my professional reading.  This is by Sara Nelson, Editor-in-Chief of Publishers Weekly.
