The normally excellent clew guesser Ronald Pulliam, hasn't a clew as to what the next Kritzerland release is. He's so ardent about the clews game that I find it a little surprising. A few people on the FSM board have made interesting guesses (none correct) and the composer has been mentioned in lists of composers. I think a couple of people are on the verge of going down a road that might lead them to one of the two titles on the CD, but for now, for once, everyone is completely stumped. I'm hoping to announce this here by Friday (and I'll ask everyone not to spread the word, as it will be in advance of it going up on the Kritzerland site), and everywhere else by next Monday.

My computer was back to the shop this morning and is now back - hopefully after all these trips away from home and all the $$$, it is fixed.

However I am saving my money now for a new Apple computer, hopefully around the end of the year.

It's the morning after the Dow Jones had its largest drop in the history of all time, and our beloved host has the audacity to say: "...yesterday was an okay day – nothing horrible happened...". Nothing HORRIBLE happened??!! Where else on all the Internet can you read such a phrase the day after the Dow Jones had its largest drop in the history of all time? Nowhere that's where! (I must interject here that spelling "nowhere" as one word bothers me just as much as spelling "no one" as "noone" because it looks more like "now here" than "no where".)

Okay, before all the egg heads on this board jump on me, I realize that it wasn't the largest percentage drop of the Dow Jones in the history of time. But still, Bruce's complete non-mention of the event tells me that he doesn't have a diversified asset allocation of mutual fund investments making up his retirement portfolio. Does Bruce even have a retirement portfolio or are we all going to have to support him in his old age, when his morning jog has been reduced to .3 kilometers?

I just watched a German film from 1957 titled Anders al du und ich.

I thought that fellow HHW'ers would be interested to know that Homosexuality is caused by listening to electronic music and looking at cubist and other modern painting. My copy of the movie did not have subtitles, so I am not sure of the details, but that's what it seemed. I also thought one girl was the sister of the hero, but since about 3/4's of the way through the movie, she took off her clothes and seduced him, I guess she was the maid.

The older gay man who had some kind of electronic synthesizer in his house and the walls covered with modern paintings had groups of young men over every night - the evening ended with two men in golden wrestling trunks throwing each other around the well-appointed living room....while electronic music was played.

I heartily recommend this movie and think it would be a perfect double feature with Aventurerra......

A friend of mine told me I just HAD to rent Poltergeist 2 because it was waaaay better than the original Poltergeist movie. So, I did. I no longer speak with this friend.

BK has never, not once, played the stock market. BK has no portfolios or mutual fund investments. Therefore, BK's day yesterday was an okay day. I agree that the drop was horrible for those who partake. But I think we all know that the rich and powerful brought this on themselves, and now they want help getting out of it - but without touching their assets or wealth - I heard many interesting statements yesterday on the non-passage of the bailout, and most of those statements were critical of the "fat cats" as they called them, saying they only have themselves to blame. Unfortunately, it affects others who are not fat cats, and therein lies the problem. I hope no one here was hurt too badly, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

What's wrong with "nowhere?" Isn't that a perfectly acceptable word? "Noone" for no one I understand - that's just stupid.

I will say this, however - I was one of the first to know that eBay was going public - I'd just gotten a ton of money from the green-lit The Faculty film. Shares were around eighteen bucks each. But I didn't know how to do anything like that, and I didn't really know who to talk to, plus I'm basically a chicken when it comes to that sort of thing - but I had cash I could have used and had I bought the day it went public and had I held on to those shares for six weeks, I would have been a millionaire. If, if, if (that is three ifs). The problem is that as soon as the stocks went up two bucks I would have sold

So, what would my profit have been if, say, I had bought $25,000-worth of shares at $18 a share, and sold when it reached say $250 (six weeks after it was listed it was around $400 a share)?

Thank you, Bruce. If I had to retire tomorrow I would say I was hurt badly, but fortunately I'm young enough to recuperate. There's a saying: "The stock market will go back up eventually. But eventually, we'll all be dead". The key is to time turning 67 years old with a nice upswing in the market. How the HELL am I supposed to do that?? Seriously, investing in mutual funds is not the same as investing in individual stocks, which are much riskier. But individual stocks are definitely much more fun and interesting (as evident by the eBay story). I'm thinking if Obama wins and we finally get some nice federal funding for stem cell research, that the stem cell research companies could see some very nice boosts in their share prices. I'm also a big Michael J. Fox fan, which is the other reason I'm voting for Obama.

I had a nice afternoon of viewing. I began by watching an episode of THE OFFICE while I cooked and ate lunch. This was the season 4 episode where the Utica branch was trying to lure Stanley way from Scranton. A funny episode with the two office idiots (with Jim as the voice of sanity) out to do something bad to the Utica branch.
