What happened yesterday. Well, I went to work.
I did all my billing clerk first day of the week stuff.
And I loaned Jeff, from the Deli, Torchwood Season One. Jeff is an absolutely marvelous person of the homosexual persuasion - in this town, that's not all that unusual - who for some bizarre reason doesn't have cable TV where he lives. Instead, he reads a lot, and watches DVDs a lot. Which makes for a marvelous combination, for him.
Anyway, Jeff decided that John Barrowman, the lead actor in Torchwood, is absolutely dreamy (a word he also applies to Colin Ferguson of EUReKA), and wanted to borrow the discs for the first season. I told him it would be much better if he first watched Doctor Who, seasons one and two, since that explains Barrowman's character and sets up the spinoff series. He was suspicious, at first, but agreed.
And he's fallen in love with the show! I had a hunch he would.
So, yesterday, since he's finished with Series One and Two of Doctor Who, I loaned him Torchwood, Series One. He was thrilled.
But Niki, his boss at the Deli, was in the room, and wanted to know what was going on.
Niki, it turns out, was very much a Doctor Who fan back in the days that Peter Davison was playing the Doctor. (Guess who she thinks is dreamy!) While she'd heard Debbie and myself discussing the new, revived series (Debbie being another clerk who is now addicted to the show, thanks to me!), but for some reason it hadn't sunk in with Niki that the show had been revived.
So, Jeff started insisting that Niki watch the new stuff. And I told her that yes, it really is that good.
Today I'll be loaning her the discs for the first series.
