I think that last post of mine was a bit misleading - I love Young Frankenstein and the original The Producers and Silent Movie , High Anxiety amongst other Mel Brooks work but when he himself is the actor there is so much scenery chewing I have to look away

I read DR SINGDAWN's post and immediately started sneezing.  Yes it IS allergy season.

DR VIXMOM I have seen both film versions, and I do like the Jack Benny version better, but it's still very black comedy either way you go.  I just don't find Nazis funny - and I think making them funny really diminishes what they did to the world...but there you go.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I really should pop into the shower to make sure I stay awake and not fall back asleep. But first...

Today is a work day.  Oh well.

TOD:

DVD - Perry Mason extras including interviews and screen tests, interesting.
CD - State Fair original soundtracks, still fun to listen to
VHS - The Leather Boys with Colin Campbell, Rita Tushingham, and Dudley Sutton

TOD [Media Check]:

CD players:
Jennifer Hudson's new album
Linda Eder: The Other Side of Me
James Barbour: Broadway in Concert [I'm having a really strange reaction to it.  Loved his voice on the Jane Eyre recording.  But here, he seems to have only two "modes": mezzo crooning or laser beam.  And his patter is strangely robotic.

DVD player:
Opening Night [Rowlands and Gazzara]
Adam & Eve [Jorge Rivero]

I am intrigued by DR VIXMOM's description of the orange cranberry bread.....  I may have to try that next week.

I am off to work.....hopefully we will be so busy, I can't come back to HHW until this evening.  Time will tell.

But first...

I really did have to make sure I got out of bed, or I'm pretty sure I would have dozed off again.  -One of the "dangers" of reading and posting via my iPhone. ;)

You post from bed?!?!?!?!?   ;D

That would make a great TOD sometime...   Where is the most unusual place you've ever posted from?  [I'm sure DR dB will have great fun with that construction.]

As for the Friday Media Check:

Classically speaking, I'm currently All Gilels, All the Time.  -Emil Gilels, that is: "Early Recordings", "Beethoven Sonatas", "Mozart Recordings".

Orchestra Baobab - "Made in Dakar"
Bill Evans - "Alone"
Randy Newman - "Harps and Angels"
Eva Cassidy - "Somewhere"
Brian Wilson - "That Lucky Old Sun"
Robin McKelle - "Modern Antique" - What a nice surprise this one was.  I had seen it featured at Virgin for the past few weeks, but since I didn't know who she was, well... The other day they were playing the album in the store, and since it was also on sale, well... :)  Great voice, great arrangements, great charts, and the big band jazz cover of Steve Miller's "Abracadabra" is sooooo cool!  8)

And I should get ready to head out the door myself.  Today should go fast, and I'm guessing - and sort of hoping, actually - that it will be a little crazy too.  ;)

*And since I now have an iPhone, I can post from the Equity building (which still does not have WiFi set up on the second floor).

Laters...

Friday morning greetings!  It's a cool, crisp autumn morning here in SW Ohio.  Perfect weather for

Middfest International

where, this year, we'll learn all about Mongolia.

Impressive (He says tongue firmly planted in his cheek) ;)

Well, Michael Shayne (AKA Norm DePloom) yesterday as Benjamin at 4:19pm I wrote this about that.

Now that you have someone working on the site, if you choose to, you could probably delete lots and lots and lots of our "members" mostly Russian or Eastern European bots that were able to register because we had no capture screen to keep them out. If you sort the Member List by post and go to Page 7 you see that from there to Page 685 all members listed have no posts. It's pretty easy to tell which are bots and fake members. They could be deleted freeing up room on the server (that stuff is stored just like the real member information). Since we now have the capture screen to slow down/prevent fake member registrations it might be worthwhile to go down to 185 members (the number of registered members who have actually made a post, including the new registrations today) instead of 20528 of which 20,343 have never posted and most likely never will.

Just my 2 Cents

Don't delete (unless we need the space)-  it's fun to see who might have been around )although i question some of the usernames!).
