T.O.D.

Red Velvet Cake
Chocolate Cake

Even though I have never tried it, Matt H.'s peanut butter cake with chocolate frosting could easily make the list.

I've come from I Come For Love, a NYMF musical spoof of Plan Nine From Outer Space and the like, with cheesy special effects, teen romance, a military dude and, Wait!  Haven't I seen this before?

It's similar to The Brain From Planet X in its form, aspirations, spirit, length, low-tech effects, tunefulness...

And everything about Brain was substantially better.  It's not that it's a rip-off; it's that it isn't nearly as good.

I will only say that I was, of course, taken aback at a handful of the similarities, especially when the authors told me they'd seen and really liked The Brain at LACC.

They called me once asking for possible musical directors and I gave them some names. I never heard from them again. They did call DR Jose last week because they had lost their MD and wanted to know if he could come in and take over.

I'd actually recommended both elmore and Jose early on, when I met with them several months ago.

They took their time getting around to the call.

TOD - There's a bakery here in DR Elmore's hometown called Central Pastry that makes wonderful cakes.  Our wedding cake was from there and my current favorite is their orange chiffon cake.

My favorite restaurant cake is no longer available.  The Grande Finale, in Glendale (north of Cincinnati), used to make a banana walnut torte, but took it off the menu several years ago.

Their birthday cake is to die over! Of course, now it could kill me.

So true & if I'm in a rush I don't have time to check if I'm using the correct one.

Hey - no one named names :D

David Wechter just called - he, too, will not be coming now.  I'm ready to just call over there and cancel - I'm really annoyed at people right now.  This is being supportive?  I mean, I go to these people's events all the time, I support them regularly, and believe me they have a lot more events than I do - I do a signing once a year.  I gotta tell you.  I can't wait to be invited to some events by these no-shows.

Hisaka has arrived, so we'll be leaving in a few minutes.  I'll probably be done much earlier than usual, and am not sure if I'll even read from the book.  We'll just sell a couple of copies and have cake and that will be that.

Me too - I'll take a home-made cherry pie over a cake anyday!

Today DS and I did a home improvement project I've been wanting to do for 28 years. We used a pickax and worked on the laundry room.

I really enjoyed last week's MAD MEN. I've enjoyed this season, but I don't think so far it's been the acting showcase for Jon Hamm that season one was.

I started my Jean-Pierre Melville film, and got about 55 minutes in. Intriguing if not as mesmerizing as LE DOULOS.

Just exactly how long has it been since you've done laundry?

Not since they re-buried Jimmy Hoffa.

The world's most hideously ugly cabinets and stained countertop was in the laundry room when we bought the house. They are now gone. I need to send DH to visit his mother for a week and get a handyman in here to finish the room.

I didn't realize how easily the cabinet pulled out from the wall until the electrician pulled it out to put in an outlet.

Good Afternoon!

I ended up taking quite a few detours on my walk up from Madison Square Park to MoMA.  I had never really checked out the Murray Hill neighborhood before, so I did some walking around around there, and I finally came across the "new" Second Avenue Deli - which is now on Third Avenue.  (Although, actually, it's on 33rd Street.)

I ended up documenting my "path" with my iPhone camera as well as my regular camera.  One of the sites I came across was this:

There was some old kitchen equipment on the sidewalk outside an Indian restaurant, so, I just taking some pictures.  Well, after taking a few close-ups of the equipment, a worker started yelling over - well, at me.  "What's up?  What's with the picture taking?" "Can you believe this guy?" I just turned to him with a blank face, but I could tell that he was getting rather upset, so I started to leave, while mumbling something like, "Oh, I just think it's intersting, artistic".  A few steps later, I heard some neighbors talking... It turned out the restaurant had had a bad kitchen fire, and they were in the process of gutting the place and taking out the damaged appliances. -Oh... Spoo ???

*But I do think it's a cool picture.

And, now.... Presenting HHW's own Mount Rushmore...  ;D

*Not bad for a self-taken group pic.  -Which explains why I'm so "forward", as well as the slightly off expression on my face. ;)
