Our "views" are way down this month, and I notice the number of GUESTS is mostly down, too, although there have been a couple of times where we've had over twenty.  I wonder if some of our old GUESTS never figured out we changed addresses.

Wednesday morning greetings!  It's raining here in SW Ohio and would have been a perfect sleep-in morning.  Alas, here I am at work, getting ready to host my second-to-last brownbag lunch.

Quite a few years ago, I worked with a woman who had one of those desktop calendars where you can write appointments on it and she had already started her day-by-day countdown to her retirement.  When I first noticed it, it was at 531...530...529 days!  She had been planning very early and even that far out was already VERY ready to retire! ;)

People like that are not fun to have around the workplace.  I'm trying my best to stay busy and engaged right up to December 19, which will be my actual last day in the building.  Yes, my vacation requests were approved for the holiday weeks!

I am curious to see if the other levels besides "God" have been changed. We'll see as I go through the ranks, I guess. But it will tkae a long time before we get there.

Oh, I don't know - I like having a Hero Member.  We can't have enough heroes, these days.  And all our haineshisway.com family are both heroes and members.

For the last five weeks, the Pool Man has been here by eleven.  Not today.  And I can't leave until he gets here because I must speak to him and make sure he does whatever he needs to do to fix the cloudy and murky water.

I wonder if it might work if you upload your new avatar photo to the old HHW site.  Could you maybe then make use of it in the new HHW site "unsquished"?

It doesn't work.  I just tried and I got an error message:  Failure in submission of form. Session timeout.

Very light turnout for today's brownbag lunch.  The speaker, a local attorney, did a great job talking about LINC Ohio:  Legal Information for Nonprofit Corporations.  Even though the audience was small, they asked great questions.  Now my co-workers are enjoying leftover cookies and chocolate.

Songs I knew would be hits (I was wrong) department:

Both of these with a semi-Herb Alpert connection, since they are both by Sergio Mendes.

Sergio's first album with the revamped group Brasil '77 contained the gorgeous Paul Williams song "Gone Forever," featuring a sensuous vocal by Karen Philipp and a stunning Dave Grusin orchestration.  It had Top 40 or at least AOR hit written all over it.  It tanked.

Two years later, after Sergio left A&M for Bell Records, his first album there contained the great funky Lambert/Potter tune "Love Music," with great vocals by Bonnie Bowden and Mrs. Mendes, Gracinha Leporace, and a smokin', brass filled arrangement by Tom Scott.  It wasn't quite the bomb "Gone Forever" was, since it charted on AC and "bubbled under" on the Pop charts, but it really should have been a major smash that spring and summer of 1973.

My question for BK:

Will we ever have the ability to use new avatars that aren't squished?

Evidently, you can only unsquish old, previously downloaded avatars. Anything new you want to use, whether you download them or link to them, are squished.

The avatar I am using is one I have out-aged, and would like to go back to my more current one (which I had never downloaded to the HHW, thus it is not in the cache).

I can't answer this question - can anyone else - seems like there must be a way for that to work.  If not, I'll post the question on the software board.

I'm wondering if there is some sort of "delay" involved with uploading and properly resizing the avatars.  I just scrolled back through the list, and it looks like the one I uploaded for "UncleJojo" is appearing at full size now.  So, maybe someone could upload an avatar and save the change to the their profile.  Then go back to the profile settings, reselect the avatar and see what happens.

Hmm...

Well...I created a test avatar and selected the "I will upload my own picture" button and uploaded it, but it doesn't show up (yet?) in the big list of Personalized Pictures.  I'll check back later to see if it eventually does.  I specifically resized it to 110x150 pixels, the old board's avatar size.

I tried that, but it will not allow you to tinker with your old profile.

I checked to see if the avatar I uploaded to HHW on the first or second day of the switch took, and it is not in the cache.

DR MattH - The "boys" are on "As The World Turns" today. ;)

I saw them! And they had a nice little kiss. I'm sure Wheatley would like to get in on that but dare not.

We did get rain, or rather, we are getting rain. It's been a slow, steady drizzle for most of the afternoon.

I began my viewing with Sunday night's DEXTER. Good episode. Very surprising turn of events for Dexter and the Jimmy Smits character. Wow!

Iced tea.

Good company!

Then, I watched all six episodes of THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM - Season 2, Vol. 1. They're only 21 minutes apiece. A really wacky series but definitely some fall down funny moments. In one, she is complaining about discrimination against Jews, and a black waiter overhears her and chastises her for not knowing what real discrimination is. So, she goes to her friend who's an expert make-up artist to make her black for a day so she can experience true prejudice. He makes her up and she emerges as -- a female Al Jolson lookalike with a circle of black on her face and clown white lips. Of course, she gets beaten and chased and goes back to the waiter and agrees that blacks have it far worse than Jews.

I was rolling in the floor laughing.

There was a guy at the Hollywood Collector's Show, a dealer, who said he'd do better than Amoeba if I wanted to sell him used CDs and DVDs - he didn't quite, but it was worthwhile so I did it.

All but one of the episodes had commentaries, so I sampled each of them, too. There is a second disc of just bonus features. I'll do those tonight.

I think it's time to go eat some lunch.  I may go over to the Studio City Cafe and get a sandwich or have some eggs, and start working on fitting in the new number into the sequence where it's going.
