THE NEVER-ENDING STORY
« on: October 19, 2008, 12:02:59 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were never-ending and told a story, and now it is time for you to post until the never-ending cows come home.  They're coming - at least that's their story.

I, for one, am breathlessly awaiting BK's announcement of the "next" Kritzerland release.

Sometime today is it?

Thank you DRs for the "welcomes".  I'm still adjusting to the sudden change of 10 time zones!

Something weird seems to be going on.  I can't quote, edit, or delete my posts.  I found a better link, and was going to update a previous post, but I don't see any way to do it at the moment.

Ah, well.

Have a pleasant evening, DR Tomovoz!    :)

Thanks for asking, DR Vixmom.  I'm still struggling with the crud.  Like bk, it seems to be two steps forward, one step back.   :P

bk, I hope the day of rest does the trick. If not, then maybe it's time to see a Dr. (Not a Dear Reader!)

I don't like taking antibiotics but sometimes I've had to when something like this persists for so long. After they knock it out, I think: "Why didn't I do that sooner?"

Last night, the wife and I went to see APPALOOSA at the local Austin cinema.

I love a good western, and this one had a lot going for it.

Ed Harris, who co-stars, also directed the film and he did a very good job of re-creating New Mexico of 1882.  The cinematography was impressive and the performances were all first-rate.

There were also some very memorable scenes.

The problem was with the script.  It rambled on, very episodic, without a very strong spine.  Indeed, the last 20 minutes felt very anti-climatic.

In fact, I'm still trying to answer the question: "What was the story about?"

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give APPALOOSA a 7.

But, who am I?   Ebert & Roper?

[Sorry, BK.]

Today, we're going to a restaurant, Green Pastures.

We ate there the last time we were here in Austin and they have a fantastic Sunday brunch.  The best I've ever had.

The restaurant is located in an old converted Southern mansion, located on what was once a wealthy estate that was owned by the Faulk family.

If you ever come to Austin, you have to try this place.
