Some sexist, just like some racists.  I think people were mostly reacting to her.  I have to seemed to be a good sport, at least when it came to Tina Frey.

I don't agree with that at all. The attacks began before anyone knew anything about her. The things that were said about her and done to her and her family were the most disgusting uncalled for display I've ever seen

All I know is that Joe Biden would have figured out it wasn't Sarkozy long before seven minutes (SEVEN MINUTES--even mentioning things like the Palin porno!).

I didn't find that funny.  And I didn't care for either candidate being hung in effigy. (not that anyone was laughing at that)

I didn't think it was funny, either.  I thought it was mind-bogglingly scary that a woman who might ultimately be President could be that completely clueless.

You'll have to come to Iowa for the caucuses next time.  The candidates are all clueless in the beginning...all of them.  I mean talking to Iowa farmers about the price of arugula?  LOL, that's being clueless.  But we get that they are learning.  Palin never got the same break that every other candidate gets.  She had to get in the game after everyone else had been through tons and tons of town halls, debates, living rooms where they are confronted by questions they aren't expecting, funny and stupid gaffs. The others aren't necessarilty smarter, they're just more rehearsed.

Brrrr...is it a bit chilly in here??

Since you dear people are all so wonderful at giving vibes, I wonder if I might ask some for DH Jed's father.  He went in for a check up the other day and they tested his white blood cell count at dangerously low levels.  Jed went to bring him back in this morning to retake the test, since they thought it might be a lab error.  Turns out it wasn't a lab error at all, and Jed might be driving his dad up to Seattle to the VA hospital to find an available bed.  DFIL (father in law) has had emphysema for a few years now, totally dependent on oxygen, but this is a new thing and we're not sure what it might mean.  Jed has promised to keep me posted.  Any vibes and/or prayers would be much appreciated.

And I just finished watching today's installment of "The View"...

I have to say, I'm really wondering what the "Women of the The View" are going to talk about now that the election is over.  I really have enjoyed their lively(!) discussions over the past couple of weeks.  Heated, honest and still friendly all at the same time.  -And today's "wrap-up" of sorts was quite moving at times.

I've enjoyed the show (in general) also, and specifically recorded today's episode to see what they would do.  I'll watch it tonight, when I get home.

Sadly, I'll probably never know how good they could be.  Fox's and Mulligan's are no where near Washington state. :-\

I completely agree.  But did you just see the Fox (FOX) Report of things she didn't know?  She didn't know Africa was a continent!  She thought that South Africa was a part of a country named Africa.  She didn't know what countries made up the continent of North America.  She didn't know who was part of NAFTA.  It went on and on.  And I repeat, this was a FOX report.

I forgot--there was also a litany of actual governmental processes and responsibilities she had no clue about--simple things like differences in responsibilities at the federal and state level that you would think a Governor would at least have an inkling about.  Again, from Fox News.

I don't really have a problem with judgments based on listening to interviews etc, that's an honest basis for thinking someone isn't qualified. I didn't get the same impression hearing her in person.

I do have a problem with the allegations that her son was really her daughter's, with the personal attacks that were lies and outrageous stuff.   It appeared to be an all out attack intended to destroy her personally, not her qualifications. I have a problem with that.

The same thing was done to Obama to a lesser extent and I don't agree with that either.

Last night I went to a place called BJ's with a friend of mine.  Apparently they are more common in California, and now starting to move up here.  i had a "Thin Crust Cilantro Pesto Pizza" and it was scrumptious.  Along with the pesto there was a light dusting of mozzarella and feta cheeses, with some diced tomatoes and fresh cilantro on top.  Yummy.  And perfect on the crispy thin crust.

I thought today's show was good but sort of odd.

I'm sure a bunch of people tuned in waiting for elisabeth to go ballistic. But instead she surprised me. Not only did she say she was extremely happy (re: the election). But she said that when her 3 year old had asked about things and she'd told her obama won, the girl asked who lost. And elisabeth told her nobody.

I get that she is being all patriotic. And i think that is a surprising attitude for her (to support the democrats). But i just couldn't help but feel slightly annoyed. She has gone on and on about obama and not trusting him, even yesterday. And she was screaming about reverand wright even yesterday. And now to act like she didn't feel that way ... was so weird to me.

Sarah Palin thrust instantly into the national spotlight - one that shines 24/7 - was put into a situation that no one can really be prepared for on short notice.

There is no news cycle anymore - it's instant....you say it and it's broadcast.

And MR BK wrote something the other day that I also agree with....this trivialization of candidates and this tabloid-i-zation of their personal lives really does diminish the offices they are running for.  And I have my own unpopular opinion about where THAT started.....but I have already caused my controversy for the day.

I hate it that it's come to this....but I guess that's the way it is nowadays.....

I guess i won't be watching LIFE today.

In canada LIFE is on NBC and Global (canadian channel). IF a show is on a canadian channel at the same time, then instead of the NBC feed we must watch the Global feed.

Well Global had switched LIFE to wednesdays at 9pm also. But instead a HOUSE repeat came on. And the person pulling the switch did not notice. So kept HOUSE on Global and NBC. Annoying.

I saw it took them till 9:15pm to switch it. I think the show will be on Global on Friday though.

I actually watch Fox quite a bit and I try to listen to a little of Rush each day.  Like I said, I *enjoy* a lively political debate, I don't think it's anything that should be censored or avoided.  It's one of the great things about our great country.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion and should feel free to voice it.

DR KERRY - at least he still has his hair.  And I think those photos were from the TEDDY awards in Germany....looks like he just got off a plane....

As I said, watching him in the documentary was NOT as shocking as seeing those still photos.  He is a handsome - larger man - of a certain age.

Charlotte Rampling said - "Oh, Helmut....he had no education, no background, no talent.  He didn't know what anything was - he was a ski waiter with a big bum that Visconti picked up on the slopes....at least that's what we heard....."

Well, I'm still trim for some reason.  The price was losing MY hair.  I have lovely laugh lines though (not crow's feet since I've had them since I was a kid).  Of course, they are a lot deeper now.  I should probably follow Joan Fontaine's advice and gain weight, and plump up the crevices!  She always said that after a certain age you can be thin and look older or be plump.  I will admit I feel better being skinny.  Thank God I broke my ankle and lost 40 pounds by eating fattening food and not exercising  (It's the Oooonly way to fly!).

My neighbor just called on my cell to ask if our land line was working.  I had no idea we had lost phone service.  The power has briefly gone off 4 times today.  She doesn't have an internet connection so I guess we are lucky.

I am curious about those people who work in libraries (here).  Do you guys buy all books that people request?

I started requesting a lot of books. Some are just books that i know the library will get (and i want to be the first one on the list). But i started requesting books that i don't think the library would get. And they have been buying them all.

So far the only exception are the theatre books. But there is still a chance. Today they called to say one of the scrapbooking books i wanted was ordered and came in.

I'm loving my library!
