Did the google translator and sent off the e-mail - we'll see about a response.

I thought it translated it on the spot.

It did.  He's waiting for the response from the company in France.

for some odd reason I now have the tones from Jeopardy when they are timing the final question.

I thought he meant he was waiting for the translation in an email.

I guess i misunderstood. I thought he was going to PM me so i could read if the translation made sense.

My friend, Micheal, is making quite a career out of playing Don Quixote.  I can check and see if he has a video or DVD version that I can copy (for educational purposes only).

Okay.

Thanks everyone.  DR GEORGE don't go into the garage until further notice.  Although ALL productions will be appreciated.

Salmonella outbreak tied to dry dog & cat food.
For a list of the foods:
http://www.petcare.mars.com/OtherNewsReleases.html

This doesn't affect me and my cat. :)

Good.  I read you should still wash your hands well after handling dry food & treats.  That is fine with a cat, but with dogs I always have something in my pockets.  Washing my hands every time would be impossible. ;D

One in German and one in French! I hope the DVD's are good. Many of the ones I buy through them are quite wonderful.

My opinion of Sarah Palin:  stupid bitch.

And I couldn't care less if that's considered sexist or not.

How about rude?

der Brucer

Why does that make Dan-the-Man rude?

Most gentlemen would consider referring to a mother, a sitting Governor, or the local check-out clerk as a "stupid bitch" - rude! . In polite company he'd have his face slapped!

That is fine with a cat, but with dogs I always have something in my pockets.

And if you don't empty them out, dogs can chew open a pocket!

Yes, I am Cilla.  A great many people on this site refer to a vast array of different women as being bitches.  Why should Dan the Man's comment be considered to be rude, and yet no one bats an eye at any other such reference?  Would you care to explain the difference to me, or would that be considered political?

Calling a female a stupid bitch, no matter who it is, is a rude statement. Actually, in court it would be considered verbal abuse. If other people are saying that too, then they are also being rude. There is no difference.

In spite of the heavy rain we have been having all day here in Tacoma; it doesn't seem to have stopped a major fire from breaking out down near Point Defiance.  The fire trucks have been racing by here for the last 15 minutes.

I wondered why I was hearing all the sirens!  What's burning?  Is everything ok?

DR TCB, I tend to cringe at the B comments in general.  I don't normally say anything, however, this seemed stronger than usual & unnecessary.

The problem existed before we got Fletcher, so I suspect at least one or more other culprits.

I'm on my third Demy film.  Started with Une Chambre En Ville, then re-watched Lola, which I'd only seen once before and which I wanted to watch before moving on to The Model Shop, since Anouk Aimee plays the same character.  I'm now watching The Model Shop, a strange and hypnotic film all shot in LA.  The way Demy films it it really takes a while for me to realize what street he's on, but the shots are great.  Gary Lockwood just pulled up to a place on Melrose literally right around the corner from the back of LACC.  I was probably there that day, in my last semester of theater.

I need some moderate, peace-loving intervention here:

On another board there is much discussion about blaming the black churches for the defeat of Prop 8.

Dialog -

Quote

HIM:

This results in a landscape in which
the heterosexual of color is given a free pass.  The
call for "greater outreach" without acknowledging that
there is massive homo-hatred among people of color is
exactly that - a free pass based on past injustices.

Yes, it is important for gay folk to confront homo
hatred regardless of the cultural context. It is
also necessary to hold people of color responsible for
the pervasive homo hatred that is often pawned off on
the unsuspecting gay community as "respecting the
culture."

ME:

That seems to be looking back - shouldn't we be trying to move forward without belaboring how we got here.

HIM:

While that might sound very nice and wholesome,
remember that what you're espousing is exactly what
black people like Booker T. Washington did in the
early part of the twentieth century.  Look how far it
got them.  The tumult of the post WWII civil rights
era was necessary to move black people forward.  We
gay folk need the same kind of tumult, which starts
with an acknowledgment of past wrongs.

ME:

Why can't we start off with "a conversation" that includes mutual respect, then move on to the required acknowledgement - I can't see a gay tumult doing much more than attracting headlines, not changing hearts.

HIM:

Why not let's start out with the idea that we have
something to be angry about?  "Queer theory" lefties see homosexual
difficulties as bourgeois inconvenience when compared to "real oppression

Let's engage in some healthy anger.

So now I'm cast in the role of a quisling wimp.

Blessed be the peacemakers, for they shall be called the Sissies of God.

der Brucer

I do "pissed-off" so much better!

DR DER BRUCER - I'm assuming that you've already brought up the fact that "white churches" were also responsible for the passage of Proposition 8 (and 102 in Arizona and 2 in Florida).  The Knights of Columbus - the Catholic's men's organization - was the other main proponent of Prop 8 in California.

Proposition 8 was the result of religious leanings, and not one of racial biases and mores.

*Which relates to the question I've been coming across quite frequently in this discussion - and which I mentioned earlier: Is it really possible to separate Church from State? and vice versa?

**And it's also the one issue I have with gay couples truly wanting a "full marriage" in the eyes of the State and the Church.  Yes, I understand growing up Catholic, Protestant, Methodist, etc., and wanting to be married in a church by a priest, but just like heterosexual couples, they would still need to have a civil ceremony to make it legal.  I know some people are upset that President-elect Obama does not support "gay marriage" - which he has clearly stated is based on his religious beliefs, but he does support equal rights for homosexual couples on a civil level... Again, how fully can you separate State and Church?
