JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED
« on: November 08, 2008, 12:10:49 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were just what the doctor ordered, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - the doctor just ordered some beef Wellington and the cows are frankly not happy with the doctor right now.

Saturday....a work day, of course.  Oh well.

TOD:

The 1964 London Premiere of The Carpetbaggers where Joseph E. Levine presented star Carroll Baker in her first appearance as "Jean Harlow", the role she would play in her next film.  It didn't turn out so well.....but the premiere was successful.

DR Jane I meant you have to prepay overnight. Not at night.

Meaning here you can pay at the pump by credit card. Or pump first and pay after you pump.

Or overnight you can pay first and then pump. I guess they find it is easier to pump and run over night.

Even though i knew what was going to happen, i was so teary last night during the show. It was extremely sad.  But are we sure he is leaving the show? I never got that impression. i think that would be even more awful than him dying. I wonder if melinda will end up pregnant.  All i read was that this would not disappoint fans (even though i'm sure like me most were devastated).  And that once we see where the story is headed we will understand. I really hoped he would still be on a lot as a ghost.

I think I would love to been at Psycho to see the very first audience's reaction to the film.

Sidenote: I did attend the World Premiere showing of Kramer vs Kramer but no one associated with the film attended.

Saturday morning greetings!  I've already emailed DR Elmore to tell him that I was E & T yesterday and last night because information waitressing interferes with my ability to post during the day and I was so tired when I got home that I just ate dinner and went to bed.

Now it's a 3-day weekend, with some obligations, but some time at home, too.

Six weeks from today I will have worked my last day at DML and will be on my pre-retirement vacation!

Good morning, all! Between 12 and 4, I am stuck here awaiting the cable tv personnel and soem updated cable tv equipment. I believe I'll spend the morning working on the arrangement for Jo Loesser and then get back to my church commission.

Last night I watched the 2nd disc of CRANFORD which worked itself out tragically and happily as a good Victorian novel should and I loved every minute of it. I've got another BBC series to begin this evening, courtesy of Netflix, and I'm heading (finally!) into the final throes of the new THREE MUSKETEERS translation, which makes me want to drag out the Richard Lester 2-part film and watch it all.

TOD: I don't think I've ever had any interest in being at a film premiere; Broadway, yes.

Oddly enough, the film's world premiere which I would like to have attended is Robert Wise's STAR!

Richard and I are about to leave to attend a funeral at a nearby church, after which I'm to take my aunt on an errand and stop at my mom's to fix her computer.

Bye for now!

Good morning!

A very pleasant morning that didn't even feel cold when I went out to get the newspaper. Also, rain was predicted for all morning, and the sky couldn't be bluer! Not a cloud in the sky!

On the subject of GHOST WHISPERER, in reading between the lines of that TV GUIDE interview, I got the impression that he would be around as a ghost for a few episodes, maybe up to midseason and then be gone. But that's completely MY interpretation. I don't think he could contractually say anything specific. I'd love to see him as a "permanent" fixture on the program as a guiding hand for Melinda; might pump new life into the show and give him interesting things to do as an actor, but I'm not counting on that.

SWEENEY TODD comes on HBO-HD tonight, but I won't be watching or recording. I'll be working busily on KUNG FU PANDA to get everything watched and a review ready for uploading tonight. There look to be a long list of bonus features with the disc and also on the supplemental disc with the made-for-video feature and its supplements.

If I can squeeze one in, I'll watch another HAWAII FIVE-O this afternoon just to keep that going, too.

I'll probably watch SUPERNATURAL while I cook and eat lunch. I've got too much accumulated on the DVR and must get some of it watched before tomorrow night's raft of shows come on.

Also, I noticed that episode 13 of MAD MEN finally showed up on HD On Demand, but when I clicked on it, it wasn't operating properly with a lot of stuttering, starting and stopping, so I guess that's why it's been missing from the list all this time: it hasn't been properly encoded for On Demand yet.

Movie premieres?

Frankly, having attended a few in my time, except for the fantastic free food, I don't care much for these overblown events.

Besides, Chasen's isn't around to cater them any longer.

However, going back in time, if I had to choose one premiere to attend, it would certainly be GONE WITH THE WIND.

Was there ever a grander premiere in Hollywood's history?
