I like Yves Montand in the JEAN DE FLORETTE and MANON OF THE SPRING movies.
He's not half-bad in LET'S MAKE LOVE.
He's incoherent in ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER.

And, because I've been remiss, for DR Vixmom:

I attended the gala Pittsburgh premiere of FUNNY GIRL.  It was a benefit for the Old Newsboys' Fund. Massive event with the kleig lights, Ziegfeld girls, reserved seating and local personalities as well as local television coverage.

Thank you all for the lovely vibes - the pathologist was very gentle - there was no pain at all in the biopsy - he took a couple of different samples to be sure  -  and we should have the results by Tuesday or Wednesday...

the inside of my mouth is terribly painful from where the ENT took the 4 samples - it's right by the base of my tongue so eating  is a  bit of a challenge.

I jumped out of my seat in ALIEN, I think we all know the scene.
I also jumped out of my seat in THE OMEN when Gregory Peck was leaving the cemetery.

I've been going off-line every so often, checking for phone messages.

I still haven't been called in to work today.

...He's incoherent in ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER.

Heck, the entire movie was incoherent.  I blame the screenplay.

I blame Jack Nicholson.  :)
Seriously, though, I blame the higher ups at Paramount who edited the film when they decided for it NOT to be a roadshow engagement.

DR SWW - Thomas Keller's "Under Pressure" is by no means a "must read/must cook", I was just suggesting that if you happen to have some extra "mad money" for cookbooks, well...

I blame Yves Montand.  Actually, I enjoy ON A CLEAR DAY, despite its short-comings.  I think the entire banquet scene ("Love With All the Trimmings") is one of the best, sweat-drenching sensual moments in any musical film.

DR singdaw - Umm... I don't believe Patrick has been moonlighting on "Brothers & Sisters".  He's been too busy singing in New York City, San Francisco, Houston, Santa Fe, Berlin, London...  :)

Having just rewatched "Love With All the Trimmings" again on You Tube, it may not seem as sensual in this day and age, as it was when I saw it while I was in college in Ellensburg in 1969 -70.  In fact, a group of us from the Drama Department enjoyed the film so much that we walked down to the Liberty Theater to see it four times.  The weird thing about that was that is was 22 degrees below freezing the evenings we went to see it.

My hunch is just about anything would seem sensual in -22 weather in Ellensburg, but that's just my opinion.

Ellensburg.

Boy, does that name bring back memories.

When I was a kid, we used to drive through Ellensburg every summer on our way to Soap Lake.

Ellensburg brings that back memories for me as well.  Quite a few of them, seeing as it's my hometown and I lived there for 18 years :)

Vixmom, thanks for the tip.  I'm taking a break to nurse Toby, then I'm going to go look at the furnace again.  I followed the instructions for relighting it as posted on the back of the panel, with no luck at all.  I'll try again.

Many many vibes to you for your biopsy results.

I watched HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY last night.

There's a pretty good movie hiding in there under all of the overblown cgi effects.

We have it in our NetFlix queue as our next pick.  I wonder how long it will take to arrive after the 11th.

I would love to have attended the premiere or opening day showings of City Lights.  I would love to have attended the premiere or opening day showings of South Pacific and Around The World In Eighty Days, just to have seen Todd-AO in all its original glory (Oklahoma, too).
