Silk Stockings remains set in its original time frame.

So, why change it?

NINOTCHKA is certainly not chopped liver.

Here is a Tuesday new release that might appeal to some here, those who are more into high brow entertainment (which of course leaves me out!)

I don't seem to have the cast album of Silk Stockings - weird, because I used to get all RCA CDs back then - I was on their promo list.

I don't like rice pudding either. :(

I have always enjoyed eating Tapioca Pudding.

I've been thinking about buying it for the broadcast of Menotti's THE MEDIUM with Marie Powers and the original 12 ANGRY MEN.

I was very disappointed in watching How The West Was Won. I really wanted to like it, but couldn't get through the soap opera. Although the action scenes are amazing and how they placed all three camera to get the shots kept me wondering.

Anyone like it?

I love the film!

So...who's having rice pudding for breakfast this morning?  :)

Poo - that looks like rice soup.

That is boiled rice pudding, Ann and I are in for the baked variety!

It dishes up like this:

der Brucer

Now that's the stuff I love, der Brucer.  I wasn't able to make it this morning, because I am low on raisins.  Instead I scrambled up some eggs with some feta cheese and green onions.  Turned out well.  I will be picking up raisins when I go to the store today, and I'll have rice pudding tomorrow morning.  I'm also going to make another batch of tapioca pudding for DR Jed and myself.  It looked very tasty yesterday, but it all went to DFIL.

I do not like rice pudding.

I do not like it in a cup
I do not like it with a pup
I do not like it in the hall
I do not like it, not at all.

Every marriage has it's rough spots.  Our rough spot is gummy and pastey and bleh.

(The fact that I don't like raisins doesn't help, of course.)

I think every marriage has such spots.  Between DH Jed and myself, it is sweet and salty and crunchy.  I have a fondness for Kettle Korn, you see, and he thinks it is the most vile stuff on the planet.  Horse racing, I suppose.

I do not like the feel of tapioca in my mouth, not fond of the taste either.

After the comparison of the baked rice pudding to custard, I'm really in the mood for a good custard pie.  It has been years since I have had one.

Hi DR Vixmom, how are you feeling today?  I bet some rice pudding would be a soothing food to eat while your mouth heals.

Last night Vixdad and I had homemade potato soup and quesadillas for dinner.

When the Vixter and I came home from church this morning we had left over potato soup for  lunch.   I put some  broccoli in mine -- YUM!!

Ann- I am sorry that you had to call out the robber repair man yesterday - did he show you what was wrong?  Pur current repair man is  plumber who had placed an ad  in the local "PennySaver"  magazine.  He is a little old man , as round as he is tall.  He is the one that showed us what was wrong with the furnace and told us how to start it ourselves - he told us that we would be silly to spend the money on him for for such a simple fix - its nice there are still a few honest repair guys out there - I hope you can find one to check out your furnace.

Perhaps your local Craig's List might have suggestions?

Baked Rice Pudding -

Preheat oven to 325

In a large bowl combine  -
3 beaten eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt (The recipe calls for it, but I never use it)

Mix everything well
Add 2 cups COOKED rice, and 1/2 cup raisins.  (I always add more raisins because I love them)
Spray a baking dish, I use a 10x6 one, and gently pour the mixture evenly inside.
Bake at 325 for 30 minutes, then stir and sprinkle some ground nutmeg on top.  I sometimes sprinkle some cinnamon too.  Continue baking for another 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Serve warm or cold.

mmmm...must go get some raisins soon

Vixmom - We will definitely be using a smaller local repairman next time, and getting a second opinion before we get the whole furnace replaced.  The man did not even show me what was wrong, he just said he "restarted" it and cleaned something off.  I wasn't able to watch him closely because I had a very hungry Toby who was screaming for food.  I didn't feel comfortable nursing him with the repair guy there, so I was trying to keep Toby calm and couldn't keep a close on on the guy. Ah well.

I love cream of potato soup!  Is it a good recipe?  Can you share it?

I love baked rice pudding - and don't have a recipe as my grandmother used to make, then my mother, now sometimes I make it and sometimes Mum does.

I also love HOW THE WEST WAS WON.  I've never been bored by it.  I did see it in on a Cinerama screen back in the day and have never lost my fondness for it.

I'm quite fond of rice pudding but am very picky, rice pudding-wise.  Most of what they serve is glop - but when it's good, it's cherce.

As I was leaving the grocery, I had a phone call from DS Rob.  He and Mary Linda are on their way here for a visit.  The pot roast is simmering.

RE fig newtons - when Rob was about 4 years old he came home from summer vacation Bible school all excited about the "chocolate" cookies they'd had at snack time.  We spent quite a while in the cookie aisle of Kroger while he tried to identify them to me, to no avail.  The next time I saw the VBS teacher I asked her what kind of cookies she'd served.  They were, of course, fig newtons, which remain one of Rob's favorites to this day.

I like to let them get a little stale, so the cookie part is somewhat crunchy.  Same for candy corn and jelly beans.

Nope, that recipe, like all of grandma's was stored in her head.
