Sad news for those of us who grew up with the magazine FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND.

RIP
Forrest J. Ackerman 11/24/16 to 12/4/08

Good grief!  For a moment I thought Cesar Romero died again!

Re Vanities - it is vanity to tell untruths in press releases.  They're not being considerate of their investors - they LOST at least one and probably more of their investors - that's the truth.   Frankly, I never believed they were coming in or that they had the money - but the ego of producers these days, the hunger to say you're coming in, is, I suppose, just too great.  I said this to a few people back when it was announced and they said I really didn't know what I was talking about - except that I did - obviously.  Those people, of course, didn't know what THEY were talking about, but like all of those types, they disappear without an apology or even an acknowledgment that they were the ones who were wrong.

Okay, I was wrong, BK.  I thought VANITIES was good for, at least, a two-week run.

All I can say is I personally found it amazing, dance-wise at least.  The two piano version is better played than the orchestral, but even that's not hideous.

Well, I installed the new Blue Ray player in the bedroom for a trial run.

Boy - that was a chore! Hook up power cable, hook up HDMI cable, put batteries in remote, put disk in player, turn on enjoy!

I decide to hook it up first in the bedroom because of the ease of installation (the TV jacks are on the front side).

(The TV is is only 720i, but for a 26" set, that's pretty good definition.)

We watched Prince Caspian and it looked great.

(And the previews for Pinocchio look fantastic!)

From The Seattle Times:

Quote
Judge Gives 7 Year Old Right to Decide

Seattle, WA (AP) - A seven-year old boy was at the center of a King County
courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should
have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents
and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child
custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the
highest degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more
than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge
then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said
that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate
family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life
among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to
propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child
welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Seattle
Seahawks, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

DR Jose, that is interesting that you know the girl from hi-5.  I feel like i know her because i have watched so many hours of the show. She is very talented. I'm curious what genre of music she'll focus on. I"m just used to seeing her upbeat!

My niece would be very jealous!

...And Shaun Taylor-Corbett is currently in In the Heights on Broadway too.

That is funny. Jen is my favorite. But i actually think Shaun is her favorite.

Every time I listen to A CHILD IS BORN I am more and more convinced that I saw the program when it what first shown on television.  I was only 5 at the time, but I remember parts of it very clearly.
