As promised, I shall now tell you of the new Kritzerland release.  This is for dear reader ears only so let's not spread the word, even though some people on the film music site have already guessed what it is.  So, I'm very pleased to announce our very cool new limited edition soundtrack release.  It's another Bernard Herrmann two-fer and it's a great one - the original soundtrack recordings for:

TWISTED NERVE and THE BRIDE WORE BLACK

Twisted Nerve reunited the stars and director of The Family Way, Hayley Mills and Hywel Bennett, in a nasty little thriller.  It features one of Herrmann's most wonderful main title themes, which was appropriated for use in Tarantino's Kill Bill movies, where it became very popular (the whistling theme).  The score is pure Herrmann and it's quite wonderful.

The Bride Wore Black was directed by Francois Truffaut (from a novel by Cornell Woolrich), and starred Jeanne Moreau.  Again, Herrmann turned in a wonderful score - very Hitchcockian, which is appropriate since Truffaut's film is a homage to Hitch.

Twisted Nerve was released on one side of an LP (the flip side contained Les Reed's score to Les Bicyclettes de Belsize) and The Bride Wore Black (both films came out in 1968) was issued only on a French 45rpm EP.  Both instantly went out of print and were impossible to find - both became holy grails for the Herrmann collector.  We present both scores in their album presentations.  The CD runs thirty-two minutes, but what minutes they are.

Given that our last Herrmann CD sold out in less than 24 hours, we expect this will do the same, so don't miss out.  This is limited to 1200 copies only and I can already tell you that at least 900 of them are spoken for from various dealers.  But you dear readers get first crack.  The special Christmas price is $17.98 (plus 3.75 shipping in the US - 6.50 overseas). To order, simply go to paypal.com and enter our paypal address of kritzerland at adelphia dot net.

Umm...Der Brucer?  "Auntie Mame" was released at the end of 1958.  Unless you mean the movie musical "Mame," with Lucille Ball.  I'm just sayin'.

I agree with the above choices, but I was wondering if Silver Streak should be considered after all have there been any other films where the villian gets decapitated? SS does have some wonderful comedic moments but is also a drama/action film.

Animal House 1978

and not sure if this is  a laugh a minute but more of a "black comedy"

Just a quick good morning. Wind Chill is still -30, but I've gotten out and cleared the driveway.  The road grader just went by so it looks like I will be able to get to the office.

Watched the Dark Knight last night/

People will complain about the smallest things.
Switching from IMAX to the standard size.
I had to point out to the other people who were watching when it happened.

Huh

What happened?

If you had to point it out, then were you the one complaining?

Were you in a theatre?

No I did not complain.
I was reading about on HT Software board.

People complain  IMHO about the stupidest things there. As Matt replied yesterday it really is hard to notice the change.

I really enjoyed the film and thought Heath Leger was great!!

Wet Girl was "registered" on 11/14/08 and the others at dates from 11/14 through today, 12/15. I don't know how they are slipping in but it's clear from the names and those Web sites that some of them have posted along with the user name that they are links to porn sites or other sites which most likely distribute porn or spam or viruses. Many of the names have Web sites in Russia. Not to diss all Russians, but Russia and Eastern Europe are both rife with spam bots and worse.

If you go to Member List and click on Date Registered column and then go to Page 11 you will see all these names. The latest member, fkgscspjik, has done some spamming in All Things Nudie. As I said, I don't know how they are slipping in especially because those archives are locked and you shouldn't be able to post but they are doing it.

You might also want to talk to the site host and possibly change your user account information in case they have hacked in to your info.

Good morning, all!  Jo's computer is down today so I had to run to the public library before I head over to Miami University for lunch with the theatre students.

Lady M's mother Freda, who was a wonderful lady, died last week, and her funeral was on Friday. Freda, being no fool, made her executors her grandson and granddaughter-in-law instead of Lady M who was expecting to be in charge! She told Jo that Freda wasn't in her right mind. I doubt that.

That's all my dish so far.  I"m off to Oxford, OH now.

Lucy's impromptu strip tease to "Put the Blame on Mame" and her later drunk scene while wearing a kilt are a couple of the funniest things I have EVER EVER seen.....

Good morning!

We had rain overnight, but the sky this morning has cleared and it looks quite beautiful. However, according to the forecast, we're supposed to have rain on and off all day, so maybe rain clouds will move back into the area later. Pretty day right now!

All have been named:

WHAT'S UP DOC

YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN

ANNIE HALL

MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL

LIFE OF BRIAN

I also loved HIGH ANXIETY when I first saw it. Rewatching it now, I don't find it very funny at all.

Liked the clips from BACHARACH....whew....flat notes galore (are you listening Terry Burrell and Ted Detweiler).....and the girls who weren't wigged needed a HAIRBRUSH.....but Liz, Jill, and Tony, were all terrific.

But it looks like everyone was having fun, the songs were well served.....and it MOVED.

What's with the brown boots with the black dress?
