DR DerBrucer - It sounds like your Son-In-Law is making good time.  And I'm guessing he's taking your originally plotted route?  If so, if he wants a nice breather - a.k.a. lunch - he should either stop in Middletown or Winchester, Virginia - right off of 1-81 and 66.  Some great places to eat in both towns.

Yup, the original route - and he was pleased with the drive up to Roanoke. As far as lunch goes - he is aiming for home as fast as he can; if the truck didn't need gas he would be wearing Depends. He wants to start off at 3-4AM - I hope my warning about winding roads in foggy hills will be taken and he will wait 'til daylight. A 7 AM departure will get him aroung DC in plenty of time to miss the rush.
