Looks like I am snowbound for the day, unless it warms up...which could happen. Right now my car is buried under a lot of snow, and worst of all, ice that can't be broken through with any scraper.

I think I will watch some movies.

I'm coming down with a cold, so I could use a few vibes. I've probably passed it on to DR Ginny and Richard and I'm feeling a bit like Typhoid Mary.

COLD-FREE VIBES TO DR ELMORE!

Downtown Seattle

der Brucer

Do you know that street that is in downtown Seattle?

In the 22 years that I lived there (until the end of 1963), we has some snow...but never like that and always in February or March.

That would be 4th Avenue.

DDIL Ann will testify that where I have to park at my apartment is in an alley and down a slope.  There is no getting out of there today.

Indeed. I remember very well trying to get out of that !@#$ parking lot during the ice storm a few years ago.  No, best to stay put, TCB.  If theres' anything you need, have Jed or I come by and stand under your balcony and we'll throw it up to you!

Usually during snow and ice storms, I park out on the main street (Pearl); but there were so many cars slipping and sliding out of control, that I didn't think that would be a very safe place to park this time.

LOL!  I would love to see that.  It might be worth it to request a case of 7-Up.

DR Michael S, I do hope you took my advice and joined AVSforum.com and went to their forum section on the Sony 300. I'm sure there are hundreds of users in that forum who can offer advice. Though I have a Sony PS3, it's very different from a standalone player, and I have no practical advice to offer. So sorry I can't be of more help.

YES THANK YOU THANK YOU
People were having problems with another film Wall E on the same model I have. A updated firm ware came out a few days ago and I updated it and problem solved.

It's off to get the birthday balloons for today. Then send vibes that the children's nativity during worship today doesn't turn out to be the train wreck it looked like yesterday.

And if it does turn out to be a train wreck, just make sure someone videotapes it, and posts it on YouTube.

Now the local stations are saying that temperatures won't get above freezing until next weekend.  So, I guess we will have a White Christmas, a White Hanukkah, and probably a White Kwanzaa (which sounds somewhat offensive).

I am sitting here composing a new Christmas song.

I'LL STAY HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

I just came across this picture.

This is positive proof that Steve Kanaly (Ray Krebbs on DALLAS) tried to kill me.

It might be tough to prove that it is Steve Kanaly, but, at least, we will have no problem identifying the body.

DR druxy - I like "The Reader" too, but didn't love it.  I guess I was expecting it to be a bit more emotionally involving, and also a bit more about Germany post-World War II, post-Holocaust - like the original book.  It all just seemed a bit too "moody" for me.  And, as I think I may have mentioned previously, having a semi-spoiler presented in the trailer, sort of took some oomph out of the final scenes.

*Then again, I'm not raving about "Doubt" like everyone else seems to be doing, so... ::)

OK - I should get a start on today's baking.  The current plan is to make a batch of cantuccini (almond biscotti), and then prep the doughs for a batch of peanut butter cookies, and a double-batch of chocolate-chip-oatmeal-pecan-toffee(!) cookies.  As I discovered semi-accidentally the last time I baked these cookies - and as was confirmed by an article in the Times this past summer - letting the doughs sit and chill and rest for a while contributes to a better final product.  -Although, the peanut butter cookie recipe already calls for freezing the balls of dough already.

-And since I just realized I forgot to buy peanuts this morning, well...

Laters...

I suppose I'll see Doubt at some point, but I so hated the play when I saw it at the Pasadena Playhouse that I really have to work up the energy for it.  I realize the production may have been the problem, so I'll try to keep an open mind.

As to Disturbia, terrible in every way.  One of the worst.  And the star and director have apparently done it again in Eagle Eye.

DR Danise glad your evening went well.

DR Elmore sounds like you are having fun!

DR Jane, that is crazy about bryan's trip getting to the airport. And then they wouldn't let him board. Oy! 45 minutes seems like a lot of time.

I'm not sure what i will watch. My sis recorded the last 9 episodes of True Blood for me (there was a 3 day marathon). So i will probably watch that. I still have a few other shows on my PVR.

As to Disturbia, terrible in every way.  One of the worst.  And the star and director have apparently done it again in Eagle Eye.

The main problem with Eagle Eye, Wanted, the latest Mummy movie and virtually every other action movie produced during the last few years is that the filmmakers are so in love with the possibilities of cgi that they overload their pictures with these effects to the point where they become stupid and boring.

Why do these chases have to go on forever?  Just so the cgi guys can throw in another big-rig crash?  Rather than concentrating on that crap, how about doing a better job developing the story?

Oh, for the days when a cast of 1000s meant a cast of 1000s.
