ASK BK
Have you ever received a gift you could wait to return or pass onto someone else? And what was it?

My plans for today will start with a quick run out to Macys, Barnes & Nobel and then to the ShopRite.  There will be some last minute cleaning in the kitchen, some general vacuuming and Pledging, and then Mom and I will attend Christmas Eve Mass at St. Mary's in Delran, NJ.

Going to church will be a rather sad experience for my Mom and I this year.  The church my family had been attending for thirty years since we moved to Pennsauken, St. Cecelia's, was one of the 75 closed down by the diocese this year due to dwindling attendence.  Hopefully, Father O'Mally and Sister Benedict will welcome us with open arms.

I need to get out of my fudge funk.

When i got up today it was still not hard enough. So i tried plans B and C. I think the truffles idea would have been a good one. But they just would not roll properly. So i tried reheating and resetting it. Although i don't expect this to work.

At least the maple fudge came out very well.

It's just that i've never followed a recipe before and had it not turn out. And now like i said it's put me in a kind of funk. I still need to make meatballs and 7 layer taco dip.

I really hope the weather cooperates. It snowed all night (i think around 10 cms). It is supposed to continue to snow this morning. Then have some ice pellets in the early afternoon. Then change to rain. I just hope that somehow the rain is rain and does not freeze making driving difficult.

DR George i'm just catching up on last night's late posts. And your suggestion of ice cream topping (for the soft fudge) was my mom's suggestion too.

DR Jane re: freezing wedding cake. I know people freeze it. But do some people just save it?

We actually kept flowers from my sister's wedding (6 years ago) in the fridge. And they are still there! And doing well!

Good morning, all! Before I got up, Randy and Jo had a helluva row so it's quite tense here this morning. I should have known we were heading into strange waters because I had very strange dreams last night: the cabaret act of the early 1980s that I was arranging for, "Just good friends," had a reunion and were performing again and the band was made up of several musicians who recorded for me and BK in the 1990's. It was all quite exciting and fun and I woke up thinking WHAT THE HELL????

This morning, I have a trip to Fed Ex and to a bakery in Franklin with my friend Alan. After that I have to wrap Randy's and Jo's gift, and i may have dinner with my friend Loyce, who had a lousy night getting home  in yesterday's brouhaha.

So, Christmas Eve vibes for all the DRs and those they love!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

DR Jose i'm just reading your fudge suggestions now.

Yes i am realizing that hte marshmellows are what caused it not to set properly.

And i did actually end up reheating it.

The interesting part is that when i put it in the fridge yesterday after putting all the marshmellow cream it was very thick and frothy. But when i reheated it all that frothiness from the marshmellows was completely gone.

This recipe with the marshmellow creme was very highly recommended. and supposedly fool proof. :)

Mostly it was the only recipe i found that used different flavored chocolate chips. and that was what i wanted to try.

Thanks for the tips.
