Der B is wrapping presents.

Aren't you supposed unwrap presents on Christmas?

I'll trade someone the free DVD of their choice from my giveaway pile, now or in the future, if you have a Proof of Purchase from a Standard Def Sweeney Todd DVD lying around (it will be a little tab inside the box).  I just realized I gave away my SD Sweeney Todd, and when I opened the BD, there's a money back coupon.

I'm making a relish tray for the small do I'm attending tonight.   So, I'd better start cutting the celery and carrots now so I have time to stop bleeding before dinner!

Love you all.  Back after a bit.

I'd better get me a mess of  band-aids ready!  And a heap of tape!

AMONG THE BOOKS I'VE READ THIS YEAR:

(At least, the one's I'd reccomend...)

Judith Jones: The Tenth Muse
Jeffrey Steingarten: It Must Have Been Something I Ate
Michael Ruhlman: The Elements of Cooking
James McNair: Build a Better Burger

And I'm currently reading John Mariani's The Dictionary of American Food and Drink.

Lovely to meet Drux and Mrs. Drux last night - Please remind me of your novels, that I may purchase them from Amazon and read them during the long dark nights of winter! And, in return, I shall hype my own engrossing and hilarious novel...

Always happy for an invitation to plug the book:

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD: From the Secret Files of Harry Pennypacker.

Thanks.

Enjoyed meeting you, too.

I think I conceived an idea for a new Christmas cookie last night--a Rum Ball with a chocolate liqueur filling.  I just need to formulize a recipe and then come up with a catchy name.

Euphemism Balls?

Brown Cow Oysters?

My aunt and uncle are coming over in about 15 minutes for a simple Christmas day lunch of turkey, dressing, sweet potato souffle and peas.

Last night, we were gathered at cousin Debra's with her hubby Rob and son Chad (daughter Becky was working) for a steak supper!  Very nice evening.

Santa was good to my mom and me.  Somehow, his tastes match our own.

I have to say that TV is a "doldrums" this Christmas Day.

Only HGTV has managed to maintain my interest.

I've opened presents - had a few more than I usually do.  Got some nice books, two nice shirts (always need shirts), a staple gun in the shape of a what is it fish, some CDs, a lobby card for Batman (the 60s version), and a few other nice things.  It's a little pathetic opening Christmas presents by yourself, but I got over it.

I tried recording through my iPod this morning - played and sang at the piano - it got it done but the quality isn't very good at all - very muffled.  So, I think I'll still use garage band.

The rain has stopped and it's not quite so gray out, so perhaps I'll gird my loins and do the long jog, even though it's quite chilly out.  Actually, a jogger just passed my home, so I guess that's a sign.

I hope everyone is enjoying their day.

From OZ - Happy Boxing Day. (I think DR Jennifer will know and celebrate the holiday)

Happy St Stephen's Day.  (Not a reference to Mr Sondheim as good King Wenceslas would have known)

I wonder if they sing about Good King Wenceslas in Portland OR. (Maybe that is not where the snow is deepest)

I just realized one thing my aunt used to always serve on Xmas eve that i have not had in years: EGGNOG!

Our neighbour's son provided the egg nog for us on Christmas morning. It is a wonder we could walk back up the drive.

If anyone would like a little special holiday music, Brasil '66 style, email me.  They did a recording of Chestnuts (yes, I know what the REAL title is) that's never been released in its proper form on CD (some idiot edited Sergio's piano solo).  I have reassembled the correct version and have it in MP3 format.  It's quite charming, with a beautiful Richard Hazard orchestration, to boot.

Thank you DR from Lapland. Must be there - it's north of Oregon where they sometimes have snow.

Luckily we seem to finally be at least a little above freezing right now.  When I went out to get the paper this morning, things were still quite icy.  I can see puddles of water now.

I borrowed Stan's truck yesterday, because my car is still snowbound (or should that be again?).  I had to park it two blocks from the house last night, so that it wouldn't get stuck in the snow and ice.  Naturally I fell and screwed up my back walking home.

Vibes for DR TCB!  Do they sell those yak traks where you live? You put them on your boots and they make it so that you cannot fall on ice.

BTW, thank you Jennifer for the vibes, but there are others who need them more than I do.

TCB, vibes are like friends...there are enough for EVERYONE!! ;D

Well, I'd better take a shower and get to my sister's house.  I'm going to pick up my sister and niece, then we'll get my sister's boyfriend and we'll all go to my parents' house.

Have a great day, all! :D

I dressed to do the long jog and then it started to rain again.  So, I'll stay in until it clears up again - IF it clears up again.
