Today I worked on my filing.

I decided the system that I inherited for filing invoices and such sucks.  So I'm reinventing the wheel.

Or, reinventing the box.

Whatever.  It keeps me busy.

I started by flinging ten big boxes of out-of-date invoices into the trash.

My shoulders are now feeling the love whatever.

TV viewing.  The OFF button is my favourite.

I tend to watch only movies or UK mini series.  Sometimes a "Six Foot Under", "Deadwood" or Carnivale" gives me hope for the medium - but it is rare. It's "cultural" I guess. DRs already know my opinion of "Reality" TV!

I honestly can't think of a series I have watched in the last year. (other than DVD versions of "Spaced", "Gavin & Stacey", "The IT Crowd" and the UK "Life on Mars".

So, today a friend from church and I went to the zoo, then we decided to walk on down to the light rail station a half mile away and ride the light rail on the very first day. It took us a long time to get back.

DR Jennifer - As for the "True Blood" books... Just start reading and find out for yourself. ;)

*And I think if you read some of the Amazon comments/reviews, you may also find your answers.

I don't have the books which is why i wanted to know.

I do like to read the amazon reviews. I had already read a lot from book 1 but could not really tell from that.

Btw, i just finished season one of TRUE BLOOD. When does season 2 start??

I don't think that kids should be given guns...even Red Ryder BB guns.

And how do explain to the kid that he's the only male in three counties not out hunting?

Guess I'm a Bambi lover.   I'm not into hunting.

Well, it's time for me to leave work and go home to my cat.  I have some TV episodes to watch* and put more ointment/lotion on my cat's infected claws. :P Only 19 more days of that. :-X

*As I was typing this, I remembered that I also love "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Big Bang Theory."  But I'm caught up on these.

Until later!

I'm not into hunting, either, as something to do.

I have absolutely no problem with taking the meat der Brucer's hunter relatives provide us, however.

Yummers!   :D

I'm going to try to see BENJAMIN BUTTON again today. Hopefully, I can get in.

I hope you make/made it in.

I just saw it and, frankly, I didn't like it that much.

Yes, it's a very well done picture.  Fine acting, sensational make-up and production values, etc.

However, with the exception of the last 3-4 minutes, I never felt anything for these characters.  Unlike THE READER, which I loved, I had no emotional investment in the film.

Too episodic.  I couldn't wait for it to be over.

I know that many of you will disagree with me, but that's my opinion.

I'm sure that is only difficult if you don't believe in hunting.  It wasn't always easy for our children to be vegetarians, especially when they were the only ones they knew.  They understood the concept of not eating something that once lived & today both are almost vegan's, doing their best to take our belief's one step farther.

Today, I had Lean Cuisine Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti for lunch.

I will not make that mistake again.

It was pseudo-food.  It did not taste like chicken, or parmesan, or spaghetti.

*bleh*

It was cheap, I will admit.  But I am at a total loss to understand why anyone would make a regular habit of this kind of eating, other than that it is cheap and some people totally lack taste buds.

And yet, every time one of the various and freezedried brands of this sort comes on sale, there are people who insist on stocking up.

The entire situation is, shall we say, distasteful.

I grew up in a family of hunters, however I never owned a gun nor did I gain a taste for the blood  like my dad and my brothers did.

I prefer to see nature alive, not hanging, skinned.

And I never, ever missed not having a gun even as I lived in a gun toting part of the state.

I saw the Edmund O'Brien 1984 on the Channel Eight Early Show.....I was about 10.  I didn't know anything about the book....I just thought the movie had to be great it was about THE FUTURE....  I stuck it out to the end, but wasn't quite sure what I had seen and heard....

But the idea of Big Brother really scared me.....and of course a couple of years later, when I read the book - I realized what had been LEFT OUT of the movie!

I formatted my CF card, but my camera still says "14" pictures when I turn it on.  MAYBE after I take 14 pictures, they are moved to the CF and then I get "!4" more.

Finished BHOOL BHULIAYAA. I enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it as an enjoyable spook movie.

It ended up being a much more serious film then I had expected. It was always advertised as a comedy, but it really is not..although it has it's lighthearted moments.

JRand, I think woujld especially enjoy this one.

And it starred two of my favorites:

AKSHAY KUMAR

and Shiney Ahuja

I saw it first run in a Seattle theater (the Coliseum, which is now, I believe, a store of some kind).

It blew me away.  I went out and got the book.

It's been years since I've seen it, but I have a hunch that it would probably not hold up today.

I guess I would prefer to live with the memory.

RE: the Southern Vampire Mysteries/ TRUE BLOOD.

I just found this comment on a discussion under Dead Until Dark (the first book).

It asks, "Anyway, wondering if I should read the books based on True Blood and if anyone knows how they coincide w/ the series. IE is the series related to a specific book ? IE first season first book ??

ANSWER:
Season one of True Blood coincides with the first book, Dead Until Dark. I started reading it because I was sad that the series was over. I have to say I am disappointed. This is a rare case of the show being better than the book.

*******8
This makes me wonder if i should read more than the first book now. It never occured to me that the entire first season of TRUE BLOOD was only one book.  If the killers and such are the same i would not want to spoil season 2.

Normally i tend to prefer a book to the tv/movie version. But I thought the tv series was very well done and loved the casting. Interesting!
