Good morning, all! I have a date with DR Ben and Anthony this evening, and I look forward to seeing them.  For the rest of the day, it's waiting for Fed Ex, the final edits of BABES, and later a trip to the market and my walk.

DR Nursie, it's the Albert Finney SCROOGE I detest, much as I like the cast. I remember seeing it and thinking that, while it wasn't a LOST HORIZON disaster, it was just a very ugly film. I probably should watch it again sometme to see if my opinion's changed. I much prefer Alastair Sim, George C Scott and Patrick Stewart adaptations.

I just ordered SCROOGE from Amazon.com; I'll rewatch it.

TOD:
DVD: Several Netflix items, CHRISTMAS CAROL ballet, Robert Shaw Chorale
CD: Kristin Chenoweth holiday album, THE STINGIEST MAN IN TOWN
   VCR: short art films

Good morning!

I didn't have a great night, and I woke up to a bleak day here with very gray skies, cold temperatures, and drizzle already this morning and more to come later, I suspect. Yuck!

Have you no "happy time" DVD with which to lighten your mood?

Isn't that funny. I saw the Patrick Stewart version over Christmas for the first time, and I hated it. It seemed flat, dully acted and produced, and not really well paced. I never ever want to watch that again.

I do agree with DR Dan (the Man), and have said so on several occasions, that the "Scrooge in Hell" segment is my least favorite moment in the Finney/SCROOGE, and I wouldn't mind its not being there at all (though the muscle men are fun to look at).

Seeing DR Jose's pictures with the monkey reminded me of the adventures with FDR Panni's Chooster some years ago.

Fun times!

Friday.....

TOD:

DVD - The Mini Skirt Mob starring Diane McBain and the Bad Seed Herself Miss Patty McCormick.  The ending has Ms McBain accidentally putting her Triumph motorcycle into reverse gear and driving herself off a cliff.  I did not know that motorcycles had a reverse gear....but perhaps Triumph motorcycles do.

Diane is a super lady.  She can do anything.  I'll ask her how she did it.

We watched Hitchcock's The Lodger last night.  Mr. Ivor Novello was quite a handsome fellow, wasn't he?

In any case, we were quite intrigued by the score.  Then, when it was over, we looked at the 'Bonus Features' menu and realized that there was an option for a completely different accompanying score!

Unless there's something waiting for me at my mail box, which I don't expect, I have no new DVDs to watch this weekend.

Yes, Mr. Novello was quite the hunk in his day (or any day)!

We are looking forward to a fun, funny and friendly get together with Dear Larry. A meal at Arties and dish galore! What better way to spend the last night of my vacation. I return to work on Monday. I'll refrain from calling it the RH until I see how it plays out.

We have errands to run (though laundry is done) and then dinner with Larry (a movie title perhaps).

Later, gaters.

As opposed to DR MBarnum's theory that any movie benefits from the addition of muscle men.

CD: The soundtrack to the Bollywood movie GANGSTER

DVR: An episode of MAVERICK that I recorded because Kathleen Crowley was the guest star, and I just love her.

I also love Jeremy Northam playing Ivor Novello in GOSFORD PARK. And he sings several songs in the movie that forced me to buy the soundtrack CD just for the songs. And Maggie Smith's acid comments throughout the movie are priceless. Plus there's a wonderful mystery. One of my favorite Robert Altman films.
