I’m lucky our big boy is a total slug.  This morning Keith showed me the photo of the Corgi's on his computer.  When I turned around to leave I almost ended up on the floor as I tripped over Sherlock.  I swear, if that dog had more than blinked I never would have managed to balance myself.  For once I was pleased he earned his nickname of Sluggo  :)

He is tiny and hard to notice.

I'd like to hear Sherlock's side of the story.

You can say that again.  I go through a lot because the deer come and eat it all at night. I've only seen them a couple times, but they leave hoof prints everywhere

 ;D

My toes appreciated the fact he is soft and not hard.

He is also waiting for a romp in the snow.

I really should get one of these for Larry, but the neighbors might complain if he used a shotgun instead of darts:

Wrote a little over three pages and am now printing and then shall go Xerox and deliver pages to muse Margaret.  Then I'll do the long jog, then get something to eat, then settle down with a couple of motion pictures on DVD.

Thousands of orders for Aretha Franklin's inauguration hat

The flamboyant hat that managed to eclipse the Queen of Soul at the inauguration Tuesday is now prompting people to burn up phone lines, as thousands of orders pour in for the style.

Luke Song, owner of Mr. Song Millinery in Detroit, said he and his employees have "barely had any time to count" exactly how many requests he has gotten ever since Aretha Franklin belted out "My Country 'Tis of Thee" while wearing his chapeau on national television.

The heather-gray wool felt headgear featured a prominent bow lined with Swarovski rhinestones. Custom-designed and hand-molded over two days by Song himself, the hat cost upward of $500.

Fans are welcome to drop $179 on a similar satin-ribbon version.

Should HHW aacquire this item, whom do we select to be our model?

Good Afternoon!

Well... It's been fun, but now it's time to head home to New York City!

I'm feeling like Little Red Riding Hood - excited and scared.  Very excited to get back to NYC after a little two weeks of being away.  Scared of the pile of mail that I know I'm going to have to go through tonight and tomorrow.  In any case...

'Slumdog' wins at the Producers Guild of America Awards

Just two days after earning ten Academy Award nominations, "Slumdog Millionaire" on Saturday won the Producers Guild of America Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award. The award went to producer Christian Colson.

The film, which revolves around the fortunes of poverty-stricken Mumbai teenager, has become this movie season’s darling winning multiple Golden Globe and critic’s awards. "Slumdog" just went into wide release in the U.S. on Friday and has earned over $48 million so far domestically.

"Slumdog" won out over "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "The Dark Knight," "Frost/Nixon" and "Milk." The PGA Award has also become a reliable bellwether for the best picture Oscar — 12 of the winners over the past 19 years have gone on to win the Academy Award’s top honor, including last year’s recipient "No Country for Old Men."

Indians don't feel good about 'Slumdog Millionaire'

The story of an impoverished street child in Mumbai, which has won 10 Oscar nods, is a stereotypical Western portrayal, Indians say, that ignores the wealth and progress their country has seen.
By Mark Magnier
January 24, 2009

Reporting from Mumbai, India -- Even as American audiences gush over "Slumdog Millionaire," some Indians are groaning over what they see as yet another stereotypical foreign depiction of their nation, accentuating squalor, corruption and impoverished-if-resilient natives.

"Slumdog," which earned 10 Oscar nominations this week, including one for best picture, is set in Mumbai, is based on an Indian novel and features many Indian actors. Yet the sensibility is anything but Indian, some critics argue. They attribute the film's sweeping international success in large part to its timing and themes that touch a chord with Western audiences.

"It's a white man's imagined India," said Shyamal Sengupta, a film professor at the Whistling Woods International institute in Mumbai. "It's not quite snake charmers, but it's close. It's a poverty tour."

The movie won't encourage tourist.

Have you researched the "truth" behind the story?

Back from delivering pages to muse Margaret.  Her husband, Richard, is celebrating a birthday today, so a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to Richard.

I'll probably complete one more page (I stopped in the middle of a page), and then complete the current chapter first thing in the morning, and then I'll move on to the next chapter.  I believe I am now almost two-thirds of the way through.

'OZ'CARS: JACKMAN, LUHRMAN PLAN MUSICAL NUMBER

You want to know why Oscar host Hugh Jackman has been seen all over town lately? Well, he has asked Luhrmann and Catherine Martin -- the director’s wife -- to choreograph and produce a big opening musical number for him for the Oscars.

This should be something on the level of Busby Berkley and somehow make reference to all this year’s big films. You can almost envision Jackman -- a song and dance man trapped in a Wolverine -- in top hat and tails, doing his Fred Astaire thing to Bruce Vilanche’s rhymes about "The Reader," "Slumdog Millionaire," "Ben Button," "Frost/Nixon" and "Milk." Maybe throw "The Dark Knight," "Doubt" and a couple of others in just for fun.

Well, since the screenplay was based on a novel, I presume it is fiction.
