It's on their website, so I reckon it's a marketing ploy.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I got up early today to greet the furnace repair guys and to get ready for the discussion-leading I'm doing at lunchtime with the grantwriters.

It is snowing here again this morning, with a nice new layer of the white stuff.

Say it ain't so, DR JRand!  I have to drive to Dayton today - getting there shouldn't be a problem, but getting home might be a challenge.  Oh, well, at least it's snow and not ice!

And, it will be nice for the grimy piles of last week's snow to be covered with some fresh white stuff.

I was just pouring a bowl of corn flakes when my DS informed me that Denny's is giving away Grand Slam breakfasts until 2 p.m. Luckily he stopped me before I poured on the milk.

PANCAKES!!!!!!!!!!!  :)

But are they Magic Blueberry pancakes?

DR Laura, don't you want to stop and ask exactly why they are giving it away?

Just as long as it doesn't contain peanut butter products.

Good morning!

We had forecasts of rain and snow for today. It couldn't be brighter and sunnier! Yes, it's cold and only getting in the low 40s today, but there isn't a cloud in the sky!

TOD:

SWEET MOVIE (the vilest thing I have ever had the misfortune to watch).

I have to say, however, that I felt really dirty and sick at heart when I came out of PULP FICTION. Imagine my surprise when it became this widely celebrated, Oscar-winning critics' darling. Well, Disney is releasing it on Blu-ray in the next couple of months, so I will be revisiting it. I'll be interested to see, now that I've seen Mr. Tarantino's other films, if I still have the same disgusted reaction to the piece.

My work project today is Criterion's SIMON THE DESERT. It's a very brief film - only 45 minutes or so, and though there is a lengthy documentary on the disc, it'd be great if I could finish everything this afternoon. I'd love to have the evening free to watch another MOONLIGHT episode and maybe another Alice Faye or Carmen Miranda musical.

The article says the CWG is an organization of conservative Capitol Hill staffers who gather to plot GOP strategy...close enough for me.  If the GOP is taking advice from Joe the Plumber, one can plainly see how irrelevant they've become and how they continue to not get it.  The future of the party does not lie with cretins like Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin.  To embrace them will only continue to marginalize the party.

It's still snowing here, but it's a wet snow and isn't sticking.

On the other hand, we've got everything we need for dinner already, so I don't have to worry about leaving the house.

The CWG is a faction within the GOP.  They do not represent the party as a whole.  Indeed, the only way the CWG is able to get any attention is by hawking a celebrity - if they didn't have JtP coming to their meeting (and you can bet they're paying him to come), no one outside their membership would even take note that a meeting was going on.

Further, that whole "plot GOP strategy" doesn't mean they're running the party.  It means they're plotting how they're going to try to run the party.  Not the same thing at all.

Mmmm. Pancakes.

I thought it must be a good day of tips for the servers; however, our favorite Denny's server, Mary, said many people weren't tipping. How very very sad.

They're tipping based on what they're paying, not based on what they would have paid normally.

You're right, DR Laura.  Very sad indeed.

We don't have a Denny's locally.

We have an IHOP.

The last time we went to the IHOP, our waitress spent her time chatting with the table next to ours, even when we asked for her attention.  The manager came over... and joined in the conversation.

Like I say, that's the last time we've gone to an IHOP.
