In my DVD burner right now about to be burned onto a DVD is the 1925 silent movie version of "The Wizard of Oz," starring, written, produced and directed by Larry Semon, that was broadcast on TCM a couple of months ago. If you only know the story from the Judy Garland movie, you still won't know the story from this version. It was co-written by L Frank Baum, Jr., yes...the son of the original author, but Robert Osborne in his introduction says that this version of the story (which Larry Semon had wanted to do for years) really has nothing to do with the original story in the books.

Last night wasn't too bad - I fell asleep around 10 PM woke up at 2:30 and again at 4:45 at which point I was up so I made lunch for Vixdad and then wandered over here.

Thank you all for the vibes - the past 2 nights I was getting up every hour choking and coughing. Last night was much better.

Well the Vixter is up and getting ready for school so I will go and visit with her. SDhe is going to a friend's house after school and was invited to stay for dinner so I won't get to see her again until late tonight.

I found The Story of My Life quite wonderful. The two talents, Will Chase and Malcolm Gets are excellent. I can see where the story might not appeal to everyone but I found it moving and well told. The Wonderful Life device worked for me as well. Mrs. Remington and the Butterfly song stood out for me. As I was leaving the theatre last night I couldn't stop thinking about parts of the story related to me and my best friend (in my mind) in high school. We didn't meet in First Grade (the characters in TSOML met then) but much of the story when they were teens was very similar to my story. I haven't seen my then best friend since he graduated from high school and enlisted in the Navy. In retrospect I know that my then best friend was also my first real (and undeclared) love. Very bittersweet.
