I also made some home made chicken and noodles and am eating whatever I want to this weekend.  I may gain a pound or two but that's ok. I refuse to spend another out of town trip sick in the hotel room

I may not be around these parts for the whole Oscar celebration.  I have a few returns that need to be prepared by tomorrow morning, or at least  i need  to be ready with my list of open items by tomorrow morning.

I don't think this game should have rules. It's funnier that way

Although Slumdog Millionaire has a lock on this award as it has won practically every other award. Milk might be the surprise winner as Academy has (I assume) many gay members and they just might vote for this film

Well. . . .If that were true, then CRASH would never have won for Best Picture a couple of years ago.
Remember, you have Academy members like Ernest Borgnine (and to a lesser degree, Tony Curtis) who vehemently and vocally spoke out against BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.

neither of whom saw it, if I remember their interviews correctly. They objected to the very IDEA of its winning the top Oscar.

Still quite cold outside. My washer-dryer are on the back porch which is enclosed but not heated. I HATED going out there to tend to laundry matters.

I watched DAMAGES while I ate lunch. Such a good episode with so many strings twisting together to make such a fascinating muddle. Love this show. I wish more people were watching.

Then, on to today's work project: PRIMAL FEAR. I hadn't watched the movie in many years, but it was memorable enough for me to remember all of its twists so I could concentrate on performances and other aspects of the film this time around.

It's a great new transfer, too, with the film looking as if it were filmed yesterday.

I watched all of the bonus features, too. There was a making of documentary and one that concentrated on the search for an actor to play the key role of Aaron when Leonardo DiCaprio turned it down and how they found Edward Norton.

Funny. In neither of these featurettes did the fact that he received an Oscar nomination for his first film even come up. No one (not even Norton) mentioned it. Nor did they mention the three prizes (including the Golden Globe) that he did win for the part.

So, in a bit, I'll be hopping off-line to write up the DVD and then I'll head downstairs to take part in the Oscar party.

It started as suggestions for food for Oscar parties as I remember

Ideas for Edisaurus to make for a party, IIRC.

Last night, after working concessions for "A Really Big Shoe 3" (that my friend Claudia was not in...when I thought that she would be), my friend Margo and I met for a late dinner and then we went to a later showing of "The Reader."  I haven't seen "Revolutionary Road" so I can't compare Kate's performances, but I thought that she was very good in this.  I haven't seen enough of the movies to make predictions, but I've really liked all the nominated movies that I have seen.  These are the four nominated movies that I have seen:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Reader
Slumdog Millionaire
WALL-E

Hello, everyone.

I have no predictions for tonight. I kept thinking that I haven't seen any of the nominated films, but actually I saw two: THE DUCHESS and WALL-E. I enjoyed both, but thought WALL-E was brilliant in several respects.

MATTH and other DRs who enjoy DAMAGES may also enjoy the Canadian production, INTELLIGENCE. I liked DAMAGES, but LOVED INTELLIGENCE. Absolutely riveting, IMHO.

Yes, it was the deadline rule I messed up last week. I would be much happier without that one!  On the other hand, I often use the rules to my benefit against the other side, so I don't know that I'd really like that

TV Guide Network is already covering the Oscars...even though the red carpet isn't open yet, so they are interviewing each other. tee hee.
