We took the St Charles streetcar, that wasn't running for a while after Katrina. Anyway, along that route and in the Quarter you really don't see much because there wasn't a lot of damage here - it's the highest ground in town.  But it's different than it was last time I was here. There aren't as many people here. The economy is partially to blame for that.  Bourbon street seems to have more of an edge to it - more of the barely legal sex shops and louder rock music, not as light a feeling as I used to get walking down the street and hearing jazz and blues.  I guess a lot of  that has moved to Frenchman Street.

I'm really glad I'm here. I wish the organization had arranged for us to help work on some houses or something.  I feel like I'm not really doing much.  Guess that's part of the reason I want to talk about it

Good morning, all! I'm heading down to Toyland to drop off my final edits and to collect a few 1903 programs for the show as well as my marked up libretto.  The rest of the day is Mr Loesser's, I think.

TOD is about theatre not the movie industry, if I remember correctly:

PLAYS & MUSICALS:
  The Critic (Sheridan)
  Noises Off (Frayn)
  The Seagull (Chekhov)
  Mademoiselle Colombe (Anouilh)
  Light Up the Sky (Hart)
  Nicholas Nickleby
  The Producers
  Kiss Me, Kate
  On the Twentieth Century
  Tonight at 8:30 (Coward)
  Show Boat
  Follies
MOVIES:
  Being Julia
  Nicholas Nickleby
  All About Eve
  The Producers
  Enter Laughing

Good morning. Shortly I will be going hiking with a church group. I should get a chance to stop and take some photos.

Good morning!

It's been raining off and on all morning and is supposed to continue throughout the day. We may even get a touch of snow tomorrow when the temperatures dive back into the freezing range. But it's mild right now; just gray from the overcast.

DR MBarnum - I'm currently listening to this week's installment of Studio360 on NPR. They are running a segment about the residents of The Lillian Booth Home in New Jersey. It's a retirement home for retired entertainers. Quite enjoyable and heart-warming.

*They are also running segments on composer and centenarian, Elliot Carter, as well as other interviews with people who want to share the Wisdom of their years.

**And, yes, you can listen online: www.Studio360.org

My work project for the day is the Blu-ray of CADILLAC RECORDS. It has an interesting cast (including a favorite of some DRs here, Adrian Brody). Looks to be filled with music, so I'm actually looking forward to it. It's only 106 minutes and there appear to be about four featurettes along with the commentary, so I should have some free time later tonight to watch something for fun.

I recorded FLASHPOINT last night, and that's what I'm going to watch while I eat lunch today. I've never seen an episode of the show (from its summer run or since it's come back as a midseason replacement), so that should be interesting as well.

DR MattH - I'm curious to see what you think of "Cadillac Records".  Alas, I think it's original release date in the theatres right before the "Oscar-worthy" onslaught caused it to get pushed out earlier than it should have.

How could I forget Sunset Blvd?

The movie, not the musical.

Let me add Waiting For Guffman while I'm at it and...

...the film THE GREAT GARRICK, with the always admirable and underappreciated Brian Aherne.
