Boy Rex Reed will went for the jugular with that review.

Someone should remind him of Myra Breckenridge.

And also remind of his recordings of

Sugarfoot on Ben Bagley's Vernon Duke Revisted, It's A Nice Face/I'm In Love Again (Medley) (Adler, Bock, Coleman STAGE benifit) & In Our United States (Lerner, Loewe, Lane STAGE Benifit) The last two songs were on releases BK produced

Tracks which I always somehow manage to skip across.  .  .

I'm happy for the news of DR Vixmom!

My mum got reasonably good news from her dr's visit today regarding the abhorrent swelling of her thigh.  We went to her ortho to find out if it was something related to the steel rod, x-rays showed that it wasn't, but didn't rule out the possibility of infection or blood clots, so we went off to the hospital for lab work and a Doppler (I didn't know you could get a weather forecast from a thigh).  Doppler showed no blood clots, so now we await the results of the blood work.

I keep forgetting to wish PANNI a Happy Birthday!

Panni, I for one am rooting for a multi-page photo spread of Monkey and Chooster in flagrante delicto.  But I may be the only one.  ;)

Has anyone ever heard of the following singers

Roberta Whitley (or any singer whose last name is Whitley and first initial is R)
Pamela Blake (an actress  from the 30's to early 50's who performed under her real name of Adele Pearce and who still might be alive at 90)
Constance Moore

and did they ever do any recordings?

and I'm back.

The doctor was very pleased with my progress thus far and doesn't need to see me again until after my full body scan (which will probably be in April sometime)

FANTASTIC!

And I drove myself back and forth without incident.

I'm very pleased.  It must have felt great to have a bit of your independence back.  Did you feel ok?

Here's a video from Comcast.net about Too Much Twitter?

The segment is taken from Fox News, but they show a bit that Jon Stewart from "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" did and that's pretty funny.

The only problem with the clip is that it's supposed to be 3 minutes 7 seconds long, but it just stops at 2 minutes and jumps to the next clip. :P

BK - Maybe you could talk Guy Haines into making an appearance on Brent Barrett's Christmas Album.  Perhaps a duet on Drummer Boy / Peace on Earth?

Good Evening!

Well, it looks like I could be playing for almost 270 people tomorrow. And on Friday. And on Saturday. Just sayin'...

"We" had originally planned to have shorter days this year, but somehow we've ended up with longer ones. Meetings will be held, topics will be discussed. Again, just sayin'.

DR George - Yes, that John Stewart "shakes his fist" segment was/is very funny. You can view the whole clip on ComedyCentral.com

*And Twitter really has been in the news over the past couple of days. I guess the news that members of Congress were twittering and tweeting during President Obama's address to Congress brought it to the forefront.

I've been watching a very interesting series called Star Academie. It is basically the Quebec version of American Idol. It's the first year i've followed it. But it's interesting how differently they do things from Idol.

They are on every night except fri-sat.  They have 30 minute shows mon-thurs. These kids basically live in a house and they film them. But on tuesdays either the girls or the guys sing for the judges (in the house). And the judges pick the bottom 3. So one week it is B3 girls and the next week it is B3 guys.

Then on sunday they have a big 2 hour spectacle. Last week Celine Dion was on (her husband is one of the judges and their mentor).

It was really something. They all did duets with her. And then the bottom 3 (girls this week and guys last week) sing.

But the interesting part is how they decide who goes home. The public saves one person. And the judges save one person. It's pretty cool.

Also the judges seem to give a lot more advice. The songs are mostly in french. But the contestants are allowe to sing in English if they want. One girl did the most amazing duet with Celine (the song from Titantic).

NEARER MY GOD TO THEE?

Very sad to hear the news of the passing of Horton Foote. I'm sure the news will cast a pall over the proceedings here in Birmingham this weekend. The SouthEastern Theatre Conference honored him in years past.
